My 19" set arrives on Friday, not sure whether to be excited or not now. I will just be viewing the Telewest feed coming from downstairs in the lounge, via a digisender. Any thoughts on how that may fair (dare I ask?)

where on the order status is yours? I ordered mine on Monday, it's due on Friday but it's been in Pre Production ever since.
  • wow :T its massive and the build quality is top notch; looks less plasticky (real word?) than other 26" screens i've seen around.

got it hooked up on dvi and just tried bf2 and it looked very good; i admit there was slight bluring but very good considering it was 25ms, i used to have a samsung 17" 172mp which had the same response time and that had severe ghosting.

not tried analogue yet but am going to see if i can download any hd trailers tonight and watch some dvds, maybe give hl2 a spin also
  • Mine arrived tonight at 6.45pm as stated.
The cardboard outer packaging was damaged slightly but decided to get it out and set it up.
Connected my sky satelite box through my existing scart socket.

Having only watched tv for about an hour, I am quite pleased with the set...and still with the factory settings on.
I will post another reply tomorrow.
Its a solid looking set with great sound qualities, much better than my old tv.
Not bad for £350inc the vat me thinks.....

Ordered mine on Monday night and still in pre production with the date (01 0001) and the website states it should be shipped no later than Friday 2nd December. I phoned customer services and "apparantly" there is a allocation for me and should be sent out shortly but they reckon the website is very very slow at updating

here's hoping I get one and the quality is decent
  • Hi, newbie poster/long time reader here,
I ordered this telly on Sunday and was rang by Dell on Monday to say it would be delivered this evening (Wednesday) between the hours of 5 & 9PM. Guess what! It never arrived.
I checked my order status with Walsh Western online to find a message stating that "the customer (me) was not at home and a card was left".

    Bloody liars!
Firstly, I have a dog that goes berserk if anyone so much as breathes loudly outside on the street, secondly I sat near the window all evening and checked for any courier vans driving into my cul-de-sac (none did) and thirdly there is no card behind my door. Someone's telling porkies methinks.

It's one thing to mess up the delivery, but it's another to blatantly lie on the order status.

And if you think I've just been an unlucky one- off, then read this page of people who've been through uncannily similar situations with Walsh Western's delivery of Dell products. I couldn't believe it when I found it tonight.

I had been reading this thread and managing to remain optimistic about the TV's performance despite the number of negative comments, but now due to this delivery !!!!-up, I am well peeved. So much that I registered on the forum (at last) to air my views to you lot.

I'll give em another chance, but if they fail again, I'm definitely cancelling.

Dell did not telephone me. The LCD-TV was delivered on Tuesday when no one was at home. They came back this afternoon at 5.30pm when they were lucky I was in.

I cannot complain since it was not suppose to arrive until Friday.

I have never ordered from Dell before, But this is very good service from Dell.
If only other companies were as good with their delivery service.

PS. Mine said made in China.

Just read Dells T&C's para 3 "orders are only binding when you receive an order confirmation" as I have received my confirmation I should get one  . Its also says " Dell reserves the right to change products (including 3rd party products) at any time but Dell guarantees you at least equivalent functionality and performance" I think we are in luck  .
Does anyone have any comments on the above?

On Dells site my delivery has been changed from 02/12/05 to 05/12/05

Got mine last night! was a little concerned as no card had come through the door by 8pm. The neghbours came over later and suprise suprise the tele had been left with them! - bloody delivery drivers. It was scheduled for a delivery after 5 but I'm sure, on reflection, Business Post don't offer this

    I'm happy with it.

Firstly, looks much better than I expected. PLans to hang it from the stud partioned wall are out the window however as its a heavy beast.

    RGB Scart
The ghosting etc. the posted pics have shown ARE there however I have no real problem with non-US programs.

Xbox on RGB is OK but there was plenty of ghosting on Halo2.

XBOX Component (modded box - display 720,1080)
XBMC, wow very nice high res looking front-end. No real problems seen on anything I have thrown at it from the XBox (Halo 2 is mostly OK). Very impressed with the games I can get to run in HD modes. DVD quality is pretty good. NTSC Xvids look good, especially those captured from a HD source even though they have been encoded at a much lower quality. (Lead was about £5 inc delivery form Ebay)

VGA - HD clips look fantastic. DVDs look good with very few artifacts, smearing, tearing etc. apparent. Desktop is pin sharp.

Not an in depth analysis but I am mightily pleased - and this is from someone who has a long history of tinkering with the service menu on the 28" 100hz Sony downstairs.

My only slight concern is some general hiss from the speakers during viewing. I haven't tested this out properly yet, and it is only apparent at low volume levels.

I have had a good search for a way to access the service menu but haven't found anything as yet.

£360 ish quid - well spent so far...

I have tried to take a few pics but they don't come out very well, you really need to view it in person IMHO. I am sure that if I compared its performance with low quality sources to more expensive LCDs, it would fall well behind but certainly with good quality sources I can see no problems. Even the OH thinks its good and thats after realising it wasn't the 19" she thought I was getting.
