  • My TV arrived yesterday. . .spanking gorgeous so it is. . havent had a chance to try it out yet.

Also - Btech swivel wall mounting bracket arrived from ricamstore - £26 delivered. Very pleased with this. Great service - ordered one day - delivered the next.

Been interesting to read all the various opinions etc. . .I especially like the 'my box arrived but I'm going to send it back before I've opened it' stories. .

Seriously. . .before you take that decision, find out a little about the different signal types. (for example - SCART can carry 3 different types - RGB being the best) Look into cable quality and as someone has already posted - take some time to set up the unit correctly.

and. . .thanks for all the thanks to those that thanked. . .

Mines turned up today, and from inital playtest i can't really grumble considering its cost. Yes, it does have a bit of ghosting/blurness from motion on high speed stuff, but its not that noticable if your sitting at a reasonable distance away with the contrast at a reasonable level, would have likes a . I actually tested on parents TV, of which neither the ntl or dvd player had been changed to 16:9, even though they've a widescreen CRT.

Text is certainly a lot crisper. Darker shaded area's you tend to be able see pixels more, but i knew from past experience on crisp displays such as CRT monitors/LCD you tend to always be able see pixels within dark shades.

Would have liked to have get some shots for people, but i don't have the time to setup as i'd have aimed to get the right lighting (without flash) at a relatively high shutter speed to see true effects of the ghosting, rather than some of the camera shake and lower shutter speeds we've seen.

I think someone mentioned a sound problem a few pages back (?). Just happened to me too on the 26". Set was on for about an hour and a half, wasn't particularly warm or anything (i.e., I don't suspect overheating played a part). Suddenly it started cackling and 'squeaking' and within a few seconds Sky via RGB Scart sounded like a plastic bottle having the air squeezed out of it (best description I can think of).

Turned it off. Two minutes. Back on. The same. Turned it off. Five minutes. Back on. Normal again. Internal Tuner was not connected to an aerial and no other sources were on so it wasn't 'bleed-through'. Downer...

Hopefully someone else on here will encounter this issue as that's two of us now.

    Mike.

Here's a review from only a couple of weeks ago from a top US gaming wesbite's point of view (sorry if it has been posted before):

    http://gear.ign.com/articles/666/666568p1.html

The price they are reviewing at is $999 - or £580, so still a lot more than we're paying.

Personally that's about what I'd expect for what I'm paying, nevermind £580 that this recent review is based on, so i can't wait for it to arrive tonight :j
That said, I have a DVI out on my PC and a component DVD out so I can get the most from it

Thanks a lot to plasticfantastic for finding this amazing deal.

Mine arrived today although I don't have time to setup yet.

Why does component DVD out make a significantly better picture than say RGB scart ?

I have a Panasonic DVD-ES20D recorder which does Pal progressive out via component but it doesn't upscale to Hi-Def. Does yours upscale ?

PS. Thanks to the original poster for this one. Nice looking set.

My 19" set arrives on Friday, not sure whether to be excited or not now. I will just be viewing the Telewest feed coming from downstairs in the lounge, via a digisender. Any thoughts on how that may fair (dare I ask?)
