tonyfaestoney wrote:[HTML]Flimber Just watched a few mins of Buffy on Sky One and the pic was dreadful (via RGB Scart). Ghosting and smearing every few seconds and at the slightest movement. It was virtually like watching slow-motion. I wonder how heachache-inducing this TV is going to be ? Class-action lawsuit anyone ?

I too had just viewed Buffy and it is bad, not all channels are bad but some seem to be, also some almost seem as though they are dubbed...picture not matching speed of sound!! Here are examples, 2nd photo does look worse than viewed but not much!!

Have you tried to call Dell and see what they have to say on the matter? Maybe the TV needs a running in period before it starts working properly.
None of the reviews on the internet have said it is as bad as what is being posted on this forum. There was a post much earlier on where the poster had rang Dell and was told by the customer service representitive that these LCDs had been reduced in price due to inferior components being used compared to the orginal model. This doesn't sound legal to do but maybe there is some truth to it!
I have one on order since last night and I am thinking of canceling. How long does it take since placing the order before it goes out for delivery? Cheers.0 -
I too got one of these, and the picture is nowhere near as good as a decent CRT. Though obviously physically it does look a lot nicer!
For the price it's not bad, but if I ever get a 2nd, I think I'll save up a bit more and go for a slightly better model.
After reading someone elses comments about the audio looking dubbed, I had a closer "listen" this time, and can confirm that mine does the same. Again, nothing too bad, but certainly slightly off.
I did wonder about connecting it to a sound system, but according to one of the reviews, that makes it even worse!0 -
I have just Emailed Dell as I cann't get through on the phone, just to see if they know of any problems with this set in the U.K, before mine gets delivered on Friday.
I cann't see the picture being that bad as shown on here, then again I am not looking at one yet.0 -

I have mailed Dell to see terms on returned goods, as I said before I am going to give it couple days to see what I think and if it needs breaking in (which i doubt).
Another poster did comment on photos, I did say the 2nd photo looked worse than by eye but was absolute rubbish none the less and another poster also said this about same channel, other channels ok though.
Also I read all reviews on net I could find, but out of everybody that has received the tv on this forum only 1 said it was good quality pictures.0 -
I did have my doubts about why Dell had reduced these TV's by so much but something is definitely not right. There is no way that all of these TV experts who write these reviews could all be so wrong about the quality of the picture. The TV's that we are all receiving are 100% definitely not the same as the ones which went under review earlier this year. Otherwise they would not have scored above 2/10 for their visual aspects. I am extremely annoyed and wish I had just ordered the 19" LCD for my computer now

You will be suprised how bad it is. I'm beginning to think my set might be faulty as no way on earth would anybody have paid £1000 for this kind of picture when the TV first came out. I use a Toshiba 32ZP48 in my living room and the difference is massive. I really want an LCD TV for my bedroom (thinking about a 23" Samsung) but I will check them out in the shops first as I do not have any High Definition signals and won't have for many years, so with this in mind i'm not sure LCD is for me.Titch0 -
Mine should arrive tommorow. I am some what concerned about picture quality comments posted. I'm not really up to speed with all the different ways to connect. Could this be the crux of the problems being experienced ?
I have Telewest cable, an earlier poster said it was fantastic. We must have someone on this string that has all the technical know how and can post their results. Come on, this set was over a grand less than 10 months ago and I can't believe people would put up with the terrible picture quality. If it was really bad surely a google would pick up bad reports / reviews.
Also, I don't think it is possible to return under distance selling after it has been used for a couple of days. So what reason could be used ?

If your really lucky u might get a 32" instead, people have got on the dvdforums a 26" instead of a 19" as the demand was so high.0 -

Maybe people who have one can comment on how the picture is with the built in TV Tuner because then at least we are nearly on a level playing field compared to all the other Sky/Cable box options and how they are connected to the TV.0 -
PARCEL TOO HEAVY
mine wasn't delivered today as that was the excuse given to my brother (stupid pratt didn't even have the common sense to give the driver a hand!), and tried chasing it up from walsh to businesspost and they were useless.0
