This may sound like a very silly question but I am a techno dummy :-( I am really really tempted to buy this LCD TV but talking to a few of the "lads" (sorry but blokes always know about these things) of purchasing this and asked about picture quality etc, he has an LCD and the problem is that if you say 2 people are sat apart in a room then the picture quality for the first person who has the TV facing them is excellent but for the 2nd person the quality is poor to diabolical. Can anyone confirm this? I would love this LCD but I want it for more than one person in a room to watch.0

J-K-
You are right that ANY LCD display will have restricted viewing angles when compared to a regular Cathode Ray Tube. This is because of the various LAYERS that make up the image on the LCD.
The Dell W2600 quotes viewing angle horizontal (and also vertical) at
"+/- 85 degrees" - ie 170 degrees. However anyone at the full 85 degrees is bound to have a poorer picture both in terms of brightness and colour, and at some stage before the 85 degrees there will be a 'sweet-spot' where the picture is perfectly fine, and then starts to deteriorate. This may well vary depending on whether it's daylight or artificial light too.
Here's an illustration of the issue:

Need someone who's got one (mine's not due for a few days yet) to speak up about actual experience with this set and its particular LCD panel/backlighting.

Anyone watched football on this tv yet?0

About to order the 19". Anyone know whether I need to order extra parts to mount it on the wall, or is it fairly simple?
Plus, how flexible can you be with delivery times? Me and the wife are out at work all day. Many dollars can buy many peanuts!0 -
I have been watching this post and I am very interested in getting one of these LCD's. I am also very keen to find out what the response time is like for watching football.
Would somebody please try and let us know so that I can place an order.
Many thanks.Stay lucky!0 -
Another review to throw into the mix. Don't be put off though - look at the price tag back in March this year!

Still a bargain at the current price and looking forward to mine on Wednesday.0 -

hmm, thanks. I'm not convinced by the response rate to be honest, it's the only catch. The only downfall that almost all reviews seem to point out is the visual side of things...I'm buying a TV to be watched rather than have features I'm not going to use, I might hold off on this for now.0 -
this time next week should see a great deal of real world info on this tv being written in the forums. However, as with anything its all subjective anyway. For a cheap price the benefits over my 14" bedroom CRT should be huge.
Also worth noting is the comment from TomsHardware regarding latency - that two 25ms screens can vary greatly in true performance. If the Dell is pretty good on this, then it may match the performance of supposedly better spec'd LCDs.
We'll see...0
