Just because it has a DVI input (as used on PC's) and not a HDMI input (as used on Audio-Visual goods) this should not be considered an issue. HDMI will take over from just about all connections in the future, expect to see SCART/COMPONENT/S-VIDEO etc die out in favour of HDMI over the next few years.

Thankfully there are some clever people out there who provide solutions to this.

If for example you partner the latest budget Toshiba SD-350E DVD player with an HDMI output to this Dell you can plug it in by using a HDMI to DVI convertor.

    Clever eh ?

As to whether HDMI will provide noticeable better quality pictures than DVI in reality i guess will be open to debate (personally i doubt it will be much better as there isnt much of a difference the connection setup) but the distinct features it has is that it is able to carry alot more content (5gbps bandwith of content, so is future proof for a long time,) and is able to carry both uncompressed digital video and 8- channel digital audio( fewer cables required for home entertainement setup).

Personally i wouldnt worry about having HDMI yet, it will be a while before best use is made of it, especially when you only going to fork out under £400. You would still be able to use a converter to use equipement with only HDMI connectors just not the features.

The response time i am sure will be a disadvantage if you into gaming especially multiplayer online gaming, as for sports i would guess it wouldnt affect the quality much.

Got mine delivered this morning (26"), Ordered Thursday night, looks awesome and fantastic value for money. Didnt think it would be big enough for the lounge but the picture size is good and probably bigger than i thought it would be. Ordered another one for a friend an hour later on thursday night but no joy with the delivery, delivery guy said it would prob be here on monday. Quality service from Dell.

If you are a Match of the Day viewer I'd like to hear how football looks on it if you don't mind :)

    Hi,

I'd also be interested in the picture quality - looking in the shops today, the quality varied greatly between different models. Samsung and LG were amognst the best - I say this because the Dell might be a Samsung as they used to use them for their standard montors - Ultrascans were Sony trinitrons.

PS. Looking at reviews this looks very well rated - I'm very tempted!

My Walsh Western status suggested I had missed the call. I have phoned up the customer support line (08706063355) and you can book your delivery date on an automated system :) Allows you to specify a date for delivery, "all day" 8am - 6pm service.

The status page then updates automatically to show your booking :D
  • Whats it like for watching the rugby/footie andy??

  • I'm very tempted to buy this (26")to complement my Xbox 360 which I should hopefully pick up on friday, but I think i've spotted an error.

The description states that the tv has two scart sockets, but looking at the 360 tour, i can't see any scart sockets on the unit.

Can someone please confirm it does infact have scarts?

    Thanks
