Just to let you know, I've just this minute received my emailed form from them, so they are still sending them out. I'd say it could go on for a while because of the time differences and close of play in NY (if that's where the fiasco is based).0
-
The emails are being sent slowly. I registered on the 26th (not sure if this makes a difference or if it's alphabetical etc) and got mine at 7:50pm BST.
I just don't understand how this will work out and if time stamps on the email sender's computer will effect this, meaning people in other countries will have an advantage perhaps? Thanks MSE!!0 -
Websites do not generally just change on their own. You would have to refresh the page to see any change - which you did but the servers had crashed by then.
I, like musehead, had been logged in for a couple of hours, why? because the email LHW sent out ADVISED you to log in early. I happen to know a fair bit about using computers, not an expert, not pretending to be, but I know enough to keep my pages refreshed. I logged in with no trouble not once but twice, yes they let me have two pages open and logged in. I had airline pages open alongside trying to work out flights and stuff, not easy because my OH is working in Paris at the mo' so we would be flying in from two airports. By 12.30 I had it all sussed, two hotels - one of which is literally the one hotel in the world that my OH would give his right arm to stay in. At 12.50 I went into the sites for each airline and made sure the flights were ok and still bookable, A O K>
What happened, the whole thing went kaputt! I chose the dates and tried to book and ..... nothing ... for over an hour nothing, and yes I admit I gave up, I am really aggreived by this.
I am lucky to have stayed in an LHW once before (I wish I could say more but heyho), and can honestly say I didn't just register for the offer, I have signed up previously and have a "normal" log in. I have never expereinced problems like this before. I pre-registered and followed their instructions to the letter and got absolutely nothing.
If others had managed to get the offers (this thread should (by the law of averages have one person from MSE did manage to get through) I would be happy just to say I missed out. That does not seem to be the case and for that reason alone LHW have failed to deliver.
Need to try harder LHW.If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0 -
I believe it's only open for the pre-registered users. I'm assuming that the only real way they can check if you were pre-registered is by the email address the form is received from, so I think this may make a difference.
I'd say to email LHW to check, but I'm still waiting on a response from my last email.
Thanks for your response. I guess when I pre-registered the other day I should've used my work email address - I just didn't think. Wonder if anyone else on here has done the same thing as me??0 -
Would you believe........now I've just received the email with form. Typical!!0

I didn't read all 400+ posts on the subject, so maybe I'm missing something...
But why are so many people acting like they're entitled to a cheap hotel room?
Why are you harassing these people with e-mails? They don't owe you anything. It's not like you're a loyal customer who has been staying in their hotels for years. All you did was register your e-mail and hit 'refresh' for 2 hours. It was pretty clear days ago that most people weren't going to get anything.
I completely understand your frustration with having wasted an afternoon on this. I spent 3 hours the other day trying to get tickets to Hamlet. But that was at full price, from a theatre who are happy to take hundreds of pounds of my money every year. But even then, I was hardly entitled to the tickets.
It was a promotion. You didn't get it. Deal with it. And leave these poor people alone. They've clearly had a much worse day that you have.0 -

Rainbow Carnage - I think the clue is in the name of the site (MONEY SAVING) - nobody is thinking they are entitled to these rooms, but a promotion is a promotion, LHW set the rules and then didn't have the infrastructure to implement the promotion. If you'd bothered to read the later postings, you'd realise that LHW are now doing it again by email tomorrow.0 -

Don't think many people on here think they are "entitled" to get a "cheap hotel room". Peoples grievance is that they never even got to try their luck at having the slim chance to stay at a fantastic hotel for a bargain price. This site is after all called Moneysavingexpert and that's all folk were trying to do - save some money.0 -

The issue is not with the fact that individuals were not successful in the promotion. It is with the fact that not one person involved (this has now been confirmed by LHW) got to book a room. The offer advertised 6000 rooms, the website received 100x their normal hit rate, and over 150,000 pre-registered, yet due to LHW's technical inability, no one qualified.
This was not clear during the day, with LHW first stating that the promotion was suspended indefinitely with no qualifying bookings due to technical difficulties, followed by a message stating that all 6000 rooms were taken and a thanks for participation.
Personally, I have no issue with whether I do or do not get a hotel room - yes I would like it, it would be nice. I have stayed in LHW hotels several times before and booked through them. My issue is with the fact that 6000 rooms were advertised, 150,000 people (and their ensuing sore fingers!) took 80 minutes of their time to take part in a promotion which was null and void, and were not notified of this until 73 minutes in. Some people were not notified at all.
Their incompetence today at arranging a promotion has made me think twice about whether I would go back, and their inability to answer email and telephone enquiries is also a cause for concern. I am interested to see how they deal with the backlash from this whole fiasco and turn a very negative view of the company into a positive one.
I hope this clears up your concerns over why people are emailing and unhappy. I have dealt with it - by emailing them :rotfl: .
And for the record - those "poor people" are in charge of organising something. If there was a free event scheduled in Hyde Park that was first come first served entry, yet no one could actually get through the door, it would make the front pages of the papers. They failed at their jobs.0 -
