Hmmm. What's happenned to Paris? not one person here or on Flyertalk seems to have got a room there (unless they're holding out on us.) there's someone on Flyertalk with a 460 ref who heard nothing on paris.
The original promo had 5 paris hotels listed, this one went down to one. What's the betting there was only 3 nights available in total.
Paris? Anyone?0 -
i got ref 52* and still not heard anything so looks like ive not got anything! shame0

You're right. I've not heard any talk of Paris. I only put down one choice and that was Paris for the 4th/5th Nov as I have Ryan air penny flights and was going there anyway and this would have just been a fantastic bonus.
I hadn't held out any hope as my internet connection went down at the start and by the time I could get in, even using autofill and one choice and finishing the form in about 30 seconds, my time was 70x, but as time has gone and people in the 6xx's are getting offers, my hopes have risen just a little.0 -
I reckon there's a large difference in the number of rooms which are actually available in certain hotels.
They'll have wanted to generate good publicity for the promotion, so potentially they could've put only four or five rooms up for the more popular hotels like Gleneagles, or the London or Paris hotels, so that people would see them in the list and want to participate in the 1928 deal (when in actual fact the chance of getting a reservation for one of those hotels is slim). I guess the evidence is that there don't seem to be many people with reservations for these types of hotels? Please correct me if I'm wrong...
This makes sense because it gets wide participation and exposure for the 1928 deal, without having to force the larger city hotels to sell too many expensive rooms for knock down prices. I for one would never have heard of this promo if Gleneagles wasn't involved.
So I think what's happened is that the majority of rooms will be allocated to hotels in less obvious destinations, which is why people seem to be getting reservations in Italy, Switzerland etc.
Disappointing for us, but good business sense from LHW.0 -

No emails as yet though stating we were unlucky. Should be arriving in the next few days I would imagine.

There is a Ryanair Pisa-Edinburgh on 11th Dec 16.50 for 10Euros but needs to be booked asap, I think there is a train www.trenitalia.it from near the hotel to Pisa, but you would have to spend Wednesday night at a cheaper hotel.
If you wanted to travel to Pisa on 10 Dec then I'd recommend the Hotel Alessandro Della Spina - we stayed there before a flight from Pisa and it was
really nice and great value. You can get a double room with breakfast for about £68 on 10 Dec: http://en.!!!!!!!!!!!/hotels_pisa/san_martino/hotel_alessandro_della_spina.html?sd=10&sm=12&sy=2008&ed=11&em=12&ey=2008&rval=1&pval=2&ref=27055#information;swa20081210,20081211,2,1
There's not a massive amount to do in Pisa but we had a pleasant afternoon pottering around and taking the obligatory pictures of us pretending to support the Leaning Tower...0 -
Also we found train travel throughout Italy to be a bargain compared to the UK, even buying tickets on the day!0

I've just booked the Alessandro Della Spina on https://www.alpharooms.com and if you do it through Quidco as well it works out at just over £50 per night.0 -
