I've got a booking. My email was received at 3pm yesterday (sunday 26th).

My ref number was 590 so i had given up hope. I think what helped was that i ticked the 'anywhere is europe' ' any dates at all' type boxes.

I'm off the a hotel called 'Grand Hotel Miramare' on the east coast of Sicily. I really over the moon even though i'm not sure if i can afford the flights to be honest.

I'm leaving from Glasgow and I'm a bit confused because there are at least 3 airport options in Sicily and obviously there are a few at my end too...i could fly from glasgow or edinburgh or if the flights were miles cheaper i could fly from dublin or manchester or liverpool. even london if the flights were REALLY cheap from there.

Is there any sights that offer any shortcuts for this kind of flight search because i've been at it for an hour and i'm just confusing myself and getting nowhere.

The airports mentioned on one website that takes bookings for this hotel are; Reggio Calabria (REG) 39.9 km and Fontanarossa (CTA) 46.7 km.

But I could also go to palermo way at the other side of sicly if that was the cheapest (just make a day out of the long train journey to the hotel)

I'm really determined to make this work somehow, but i always get confused when there are a number of feasible airport options at BOTH ends? any thoughts out there much appreciated...:beer:

Oh well then... my ref was 57x so i have finally decided to give up hope. Quite annoying though that someone with ref 6xx got a booking especially as i ticked the box for anywhere in europe at anytime also.:mad:

CTA is the nearest airport. When is your stay? If it is in summer there will be more options.

ryanair also fly to Sicily http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/dests.php?flash=chk&culture=GB&pos=HEAD

The easiest way might be BA GLA-LGW-CTA, but they don't go every day in Winter.

REG airport is in Italy so you may need a ferry to get to Sicily.
What are your check in and check out dates for the hotel and I will try and work something out for you.

richard, 1000 apologies, it seems i have wasted your time.

It looks like i've been getting mixed up between two hotels called 'grand hotel miramare'.

Long story short - I'm nowhere near sicily lol. I'm staying much further north in italy 20 miles from Genova near a place called Portofino!

woo hoo! no idea how tricky the airport travel will be but I'll soon find out.

There is Prestwick to Pisa on Ryanair on Sunday 7th Dec for £25.44

There is a Ryanair Pisa-Edinburgh on 11th Dec 16.50 for 10Euros but needs to be booked asap, I think there is a train www.trenitalia.it from near the hotel to Pisa, but you would have to spend Wednesday night at a cheaper hotel.


BA can get you there from GLA via LGW to Genoa but that is £182

Hi! I got 5th November, but have just realised it says for 1 person on the confirmation (I selected 2 people on the request). I might cry! Have checked the rates on the hotels website and they are per-room and not per-person.

So I have contacted the hotel and LHW in the desperate hope that 2 people will be fine. Don't fancy going by myself or paying £200 a night for my partner! Sob sob sob...

I asked for 1 and 2 Dec or 2 or 3 Dec, I didn't know they were the dates for the Luna hotel, lucky guess!!
My time ref was 52X,
