  • Mine was transfered out from A&L on 30 October and appeared online at Natwest on 7 September (so will have to wait a few more days for interest to start)

Crikey that's on awful long wait, perhaps using broadband would have been quicker?

Me thinks there might be a little typo here LOL

Somebody please give me some advice!! I transferred my 3 ISA's from Barclays. Finally money came over to Natwest today, but they have put £3600 into the ISA and the rest of my ISA transfer into the regular savings account they set up for me - despite me filling in the ISA transfer forms! I'm really worried now the money has been taken out of the ISA's that it wont be able to be put back in again.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I went into Natwest at opening time this morning, and asked to speak to the manager. She promised that it would be sorted and that I wouldn't lose any of my ISA allowance. She did say that in the processing departments defence they have been inundated with transfers and they forgot to press the additional transfer button when processing - this doesn't make me feel very confident in their procedures!! Manager conveniently not in on Monday or Tuesday so I have to wait until Wednesday when she contacts ISA department to hear more, and then apparantly there is a 3 day turnaround for the ISA department to respond! The lady on the reception counter told me she knows of one other customer this happened to and that the situation is still ongoing with them, there seems to be no quick fix. I wish I'd now left my savings where they were. I will update when I hear more or if I ever get it sorted!

Can't you ask to see the assistant manager on Monday or Tuesday to speed things along?

Register a formal complaint (I believe NatWest call them "concerns"...I have one running at the moment).

That way you're guaranteed a resolution within 8 weeks. If you don't get it, then you go to the FOS.

If the failings within NatWest are systematic, ie several others have complained about the same thing, then I'm sure NatWest will be doing all they can to avoid...a) the £450 FOS case fee, b) paying compensation/goodwill, and c) avoid the rap they'll get from the FOS.

    Good luck.

Thanks, I think I will have a go at doing that then, see if it gets me anywhere. Do I need to put it in writing or can I do it verbally do you know? Sorry to sound daft but what does FOS stand for, is it the same thing as the Financial Services Authority?
  • I'm going to ring again tomorrow to see if anyone else can help. I intend to ring them on a daily basis until it's sorted, it's getting me so stressed out!

    Why? If...
it's getting me so stressed out!
...then ringing every day is not going to help is it?

Pop in to branch and dictate a complaint, or put it in writing yourself, then sit back and wait for the resolution.

    Life's too short!
  • I just made some enquires about how I would go about making a withdrawal from my Natwest ISA. When I transferred my ISA into Natwest a month or so ago I chose to open a First reserve account rather than a Natwest current account. The current account I want the withdrawn funds paid into is with Alliance and Leicester.

According to the Natwest advisor I spoke to in branch today the only 2 methods open to me are to request a CHAPS transfer at a cost of £23 or make the withdrawal over the counter and recieve it there and then in cold hard cash.

As I was looking to withdraw a few thousand I don't like the idea of walking out of the door with that kind of money in my pocket! ( The advisor did warn me that for a withdrawal of this size I would need to warn them a day or 2 before I went in to pick it up)

With my previous Abbey Direct ISA I just gave them details of my A+L current account when I opened the ISA then whenever I wanted to make a withdrawal I could arrange it over the phone and the funds were simply transferred into my A+L current account 3 working days later.

Have I been advised correctly or does anyone on here know of any other way of making a withdrawal from a Natwest ISA?

    Any advice would be appreciated.
  • Varies I guess.

Have a current acount. Called local branch around 15:30 to check somebody would be able to sort it out - "No problem ask for me" lady said. Jumped in car, arrived - nobody else in, asked for said lady - forms checked, details entered into PC whilst sat down - accounts showed up as you would expect - a little more rattle on keyboard and letter with account number printed off. No sales waffle or "personal finanace assessment" (or similar) touted. Back home @ 16:15.

Perhaps it was late in the day and she wanted to get home but it made quite a refreshing change not to have to beat off the sales pitch.

Efficient service up to present - just have to see how long process takes !

    FF.

Well just a follow up to the above post of the 30th Oct....

Received note from transferring BS requesting bank book be sent through to them which was done - subsequently returned with a closing balance date of Wed. 12 Nov.

Balance appeared online @ Natwest on Monday 17th.

All in all not too bad compared to previous transfer experiences involving B&B/Halifax.
