  • Hello Everybody,

Hope everybody is doing well and is happy during this time of festive cheer.

I did not managed to acheive my NSD target for November. I was one short. I got 9/10 :(

I am setting another target for 10 again for december, so fingers crossed.

I spent £15.24 on groceries this week, bringing my total for the month to £54.46. My budget is £90, so that leaves me with £35.54, hopefully I can manage it.

Not managing to save many 20p and £2 at the moment, I need them all for christmas. :rotfl:

I am abit fed-up at the moment, I am finding it tough to keep going. Because christmas is here I am not putting any extra off onto my debts. I have increased my matched betting profits to £830 pounds. However, most of that money is tied up for now at betfair and various betting websites. I have used some for christmas presents and I have saved abit for decorating and repairs. I am getting my central heating system service today and I am dreading it. It always seems that when you seem to be making progress something else goes wrong.

Anyway I will just have to keep plodding along and hopefully things will turn out ok

  • Hi Folks,

Well that was pointless. The British gas man came out to service my boiler, and then told me he could not do it. I have an ancient back boiler with a front fire in the living room. However, there was a small hole in the glass on the front of the fire so fumes can escape out. He told me he was not allowed to turn it on and therefore he could not service my boiler. He said I can claim my money back. My system is so old it will cost alot of money to repair. It looks like I might have to get a combi boiler. A man is coming out to give me a quote next monday. However, until then it looks like I am stuck with electric heaters.

    Doh!!!!!

    Hi Moneyfritter...

Sorry to hear things aren't going great for you at the moment. You're not alone finding this month hard, most people are in the same boat, me being one of them. Just 2 weeks and 3 days to go until christmas is over so I think aslong as you make your minimum payments for just this month then you don't need to worry and then come January you can get back into it again. I guess if you can get through December without getting into any more debt by buying presents then that will be a great achievement!
Good luck with getting your boiler sorted, as I live in a rented house and don't have to deal with anything like that i'm afaid I dont have any advice. Hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later tho.
    Initial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80
    Debt now Jan 2021 - £6,208.21
    Overpayment pot - £0

Make sure you get several quotes. British Gas were the most expensive when we needed a new boiler by a LOT.
Hoping to retire earlier than 67!

    Hi Folks,

Sorry it has been a long time. Things have been hectic.

Firstly let me say that I hope everybody had a fantastic christmas and a great new year. Hope 2009 is a great year for everybody.

Decemeber was not a great month. I was over by £7.00 on my £90 budget for the grocery challenge. Have to try harder this month.

Also I did not manage one NSD, i just seemed to spend everyday, even if it was just a little thing. I suppose when you are buying last minute gifts and meeting up with family and friends then you always seem to be spending money. Hopefully I will start 2009 with a bang. I suppose looking on the bright side I did not use my visa cards once over the christmas period. I also managed to not get further into debt. This christmas was the first time I saved up for presents and it worked.

Anyway got to try and get back on track this month.

    Take care

  • Hi folks, I have managed to save 99p in 1p,2p and 5p today. I have placed it in my lose change jar.

Unfortunately I have spent all of my £2 coins I saved during december. So I will have to start again.

I have reset my signature. I really did go off the rails in december.

Need to get my !!!! back into gear

  • Hi Folks,

I hope everybody is doing well today. Last day off and back to work tommorow.

I did not manage a NSD today as I had to get petrol for the week and I also bought some more food. The food shopping cost £8.92, taking my total for the jan grocery challenge to £60.01. I now have £29.99 to last for the rest of the month. Should be ok as I do not need much.

I have decided to include 10 pence pieces in my 1p,2p and 5p jar. So I managed to add £1.48 in 1p,2p,5p and 10p to my jar today taking my total so far to £14.90. No £2 coins yet, but hopefully soon.

Take care everybody and happy saving

    Evening all,

Well first day back at work and it dragged and was so boring, I could not wait to get home. I prefer to keep busy in work. Anyway I managed another NSD today taking my total to 2/10 for the month. Really have got the bit between my teeth now as I really what to shift this debt. I guess what really snapped me into gear was the fact that my girlfriend bought a lovely flat screen LCD HD TV with built in DVD player for her bedroom, and I wanted one, but could not afford it. But if I had no debt and hence more spare money I would of been able to get one.

Anyway back to reality. I am currently making a pan of lovely homemade chunky vegetable soup for this freezing cold weather. I am going to have it with an omelette. The smells from the kitchen as I write this are great.

    Anyway take care

  • Well Folks,

It has reached that sad time once again. I took my christmas tree down tonight. I hate doing it as the room always looks bare once it is gone. Also it always takes hours to put up and decorate, but only takes a few minutes to destroy all that hard work when you take it down.

    Anyway night night folks
