I tend to do 2.5miles most days but throw in the odd 5.5 or 6.5 just to push things. Hoping to do the Weymouth 10 in Oct, and if I keep writing it down it will become more real hehe.

  • Quick update for me & DD2 (&DDogs 1&2!!)
Have ventured out to our lovely hills locally & climbed to top (738 feet - just looked it up!) twice this week, fabulous sunshine & not a cloud in the sky. Absolutely pooped, but well worth it. The boys (dogs) loved it too, but made us feel feeble by sprinting up & down the sides with gay abandon!!
Thighs & lungs felt the benefit of the workout too......only problem is could eat like a horse when we get home, not quite the right idea, is it!

Good on you, it sounds wonderful.

I trekked the Great Wall of China and up in the mountains above, lovely views over Mongolia, It was amazing.

Every day walking is more than enjoyable, but some places seem out of this world. I'm lucky enough to live by the sea so get great views most of the time

    Hi everyone,
Suzialwaysbroke, its a good idea to get a load of excercise in BEFORE eating, your body then stores less of the huge fatty meal....sorry, healthy food, that is then given, rather than the 'walk it off' way.

Today is NOT raining, but not having a use for your raincoat is no excuse for not going for a walk...wow! was that a quadruple negative?

If nasty bull is on far side of the field, then its a five mile circuit. If he is not, and sees me, then it'll be 1 mile with a sprint midway.
    :D:D stay wonky :D:D

....one-way ticket to Portugal booked !
  • walked aprox 5 miles today. 2 into the city on which i got soaked to the skin and ended up having to buy a whole new outfit to walk home in! Ok so I had planned to buy waterproof trousers and jacket anyways, but still not very MSE. Total cost of jacket, trousers, socks, gloves, a t-shirt and leggings for under the trousers to keep me warm (+2 other tops that where down to £2 which i justify with the weight lost so far on the overspend over eat thread leading me to needing a few more tops as only owned 3 in a size 12) was £28. Not bad at all!! Anyways yes, walked a mile easily around various parts of the city to go to post office, bank and shop, then 2 miles home again with a bag full of soggy clothes lol and a few new tops. Nice to know the calories are gone woohoo!

SO no more excuses from here re the rain, i dont mind rain too much and less so when i stay bone dry :D

Hiya can i join please? Have only just come across this thread. Not much of a runner but love walkin, dont drive so dont have much choice really. Been letting things slip latey so need to give myself a kick up the bum. I've dug out my pedometer n my joanna hall walking book n i'm raring to go. Got a slight prob with my pedometer tho - had it on today n the blummin thing keeps restetting itself! Also just been reading on the net that in order to loose weight through walking you need to be doing 16000 plus steps a day so thats gonna be my daily target.

LilmissEmmylou - thanks for your welcome, i've just got back from a walk with my friend and my pedometer says i've done 10500 steps and walked 4.2k or 2.6miles. Hope that helps.
totally had the wrong shoes on for my walk tho (new ugg type boots), they were too big n now my feet are killing. They looked so comfy too. Still got 5500 steps to go!
