Have a good day Cinny!
I don't think I'd get on very well with audio books, I'd just tune it into background noise and not take anything in! Saying that when I went to France with my parents a few years ago we had a Bill Bryson audio book and that was lovely to listen to, but it was little essays so it was nice to dip in and out of and you didn't really need to follow it much.
I've read the Memory Keepers Daughter Tete, quite a good read. Have you read The Time Traveller's Wife? I loved that, it made me cry and I never cry at books or tv! I may have been hormonal but I like to think it was the book!
Re: children's classics, I'm a sucker for them! I was going through my books before moving and there were loads I just could not part with, like Little Women, The Secret Garden, What Katy Did and A Little Princess! They all get re-read every couple of years and I still love them!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Oh, and I was planning on eating a slice of cake tonight anyway (guilt free of course!) so does that mean I can just eat that cake with double no guilt or do I eat 2 slices? Hmmm... tough decision!

Congrats on your medal, Birdie! Apparently you're now a 'serious' moneysaving fan - hope not
Tough decision indeed on the cake - I always like to think that if you cut a slice of cake in half then it's only half the calories (even if you eat both halves!)
I have some good news and some bad news. I didn't got the job I interviewed for last week (boo) but I have a 2nd interview for the one I went for yesterday. So Birdie you could have another guilt-free piece of cake to celebrate on my behalf if you like? My only dilemma is what to wear for the interview as I've already used my 'interview' outfit! Because publishing is very laidback I don't really have any smart clothes. I don't want to have to buy something (well I do, obviously) but none of my friends are suitable candidates to borrow from. Hmm...

Cinny, I will toast you with one (or two) of the yummy brownies I made from your recipe! Have a lovely afternoon!
Hi Birdie, yes I have read Time Traveller's Wife, one of my favourite books of all time! I cried all the way through it but then I cry all the time (really, like, Deal or No Deal, stuff like that!). And I don't know if it counts as a classic as such but I LOVE The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Congrats on the 3 medals! I preferred the two, I just like the word 'stalwart'
Sounds like fate to me Poddle, you didn't get the first job because it was rubbish anyway and you're going to get the second! Congrats on the interview, but that is indeed a wardrobe dilemma! Could you have a look around for a cheapy dress - that way you're only having to buy the one item rather than shirt, trousers/skirt, jacket...?
Well I went to check on my ISA, they wouldn't update my little book thing because apparently the interest only gets added once a year so I have to wait til 31st March. It's calculated daily I think and I thought it would be added monthly. The rate has gone down from 5.3% when I opened it a year ago to 2.3% and will go down again on 1 April to 1.7% So I have no idea how much interest I'll get on 31st, as I'm not sure what the rates have been throughout the year. Don't know whether to swap to another ISA, as all the rates will be variable. I certainly can't do it til April anyway otherwise I'll lose my interest presumably. Augh.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I think I'll just eat a whole cake and call it quits! :j
Sorry you didn't get the first job but good news about the second interview for the other one! :j Tesco and Asda may have cheap smart clothes so you can maybe pick something suitable up for not a lot of money. What is your interview outfit? Is it a suit you can change the blouse with to make it look different?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I prefer Stalwart too, it isn't used enough in everyday language! Childrens book wise I love the Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark! Little Plop is so cute!
Glad to hear you've been through the heartache of The Time Traveller's Wife! I was drained by the end but so satisfied, in a weird book-geek way!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
