    Thanks Dinah!

    It's not compulsive..as such just a matter of 'ooh, that's pretty, i have enough, it's mine!' :D

That's no wonder you're so practical now Dinah! Saying that, you must have had a lovely book collection!

Was tidying my bedroom this morning and I've figured out I'm now set, cosmetic wise, for about 3 months at least. I still have a massive haul of Soap and Glory I'm working through from christmas, my brother got me lots of the DHC facial care bits I use (been surviving on the travel kits, it costs way too much!) Two bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner, plus the almost full bottles I have now. I think I'm set for some list making tomorrow afternoon with it all, my bedroom looks like boots and I never noticed!

_party_ Happy Birthday Cinny!! Fish and Chips by the lock sounds perfect, I think things like that are so much more romantic than posh restaurants! And forget the Dandelion and Burdock - go all out with a shandy ;) Congrats on opening the ISA. Are you not putting the £200 towards the bike?

Morning everyone else! What's the hideaway craft table, have I missed something? Not the big monster desk thing? I agree Dinah, I never buy a new book in an 'actual shop' (unless it's about £3 in Tesco) - charity shops all the way! I like to think of it as recycling, so environmentally sound too

Pay day today :j so bank acc looking very healthy at the min, will all settle down in a few days and I'll be skint again though. Need to pop into my ISA building society to see how much interest I've earned or not this year and check my rate, and also take some money out to put into my Barclays acc, whose OD I used to pay for the Eurostar. Honestly, I feel like I hemorrhage money some days!

Me too!! I've promised myself I'm not buying any toiletries unless it's something I actually need and I've ran out, like shower gel. I must have enough body lotion to last about 2 years at the rate I use it!

I was going to put the £200 (now £140!) towards my bike but decided it's better in savings so I'm not tempted before I have all the money for it. Looking forward to payday tomorrow so I can start my new £10 a week budget and move my new weekly £50 into savings.

I was saying to our estimator man I might have a shandy, be a rebel in my old age :D

I have loads of body lotion too - some in creams, some in sprays. I never use it but I'm going to start! It's all 'apply after bathing' stuff and I always forget. I should put it on the side surrounded by arrows on post it notes.

The hideaway craft table and the monster desk are one and the same! The monster folds into itself so it just looks like a cupboard, albeit a slightly ugly one! I've seen a hideaway desk thing in Argos, it's basically a computer desk with doors and a few cubby holes. It's no monster craft desk but it is only £120 so I may have to settle for it!

I used to buy books (new! ) by the bucket load, my living room looks a bit like a library at the moment, it is quite nice when I want to read a new book, I have a look around, read the blurbs since I haven't got a clue what half of them are about, pick the book out and when it is finished put on the pile to ebay! I now only buy books from Charity shops, market stalls or really cheap in supermarkets, even though I have enough to keep me going for a good year I still want to keep buying more! The curse of the bookworm!

Don't get me started on toiletries, I've got enough to last me the whole year! OH nearly had a fit when he saw all the boxes when we were moving in! :rotfl:

I'm sorely jealous of all those with a massive to read pile! I don't spend much on books really! The last one I got was 71p off of amazon (my second book of smut from the same wartime diary you'll be pleased to know Tete!) All I have in my to read pile is Gary Barlows book *swoons* Mill on the Floss and two hardbacks stashed under my bed for cornwall (20p each from the library sale) I've now got 12 Audiobooks to listen to now though, so I shouldn't complain! Was planning on buying Wuthering Heights and Dawn Chorus tomorrow though (amazon - second hand)

Well that's ok seeing as you're 18 now ;). I have this compulsive book fetish, I can't help buying them even though I've loads sitting unread and unloved on my shelves, and I'm quite a slow reader so it'll take me ages to get through them all :o I bought The Memory-Keeper's Daughter from Oxfam yesterday for £1.70. I don't think I'd like audio books somehow, never tried them though, maybe if I ever get my cassette player working in the car again I'll try one from the library. I think WH Smith are doing various classics for £1 at the min, and of course if you buy something from there before Sunday you'll get four 2for1 vouchers for various attractions ;)

Another Mr.Churchill quote, if you don't mind :D

'If you cannot read all your books fondle them; peer into them, let them fall open where they will, read from the first sentence that arrests the eye, set them back with your own hands, arrange them on on your own plan so that you at least know where they are'

I think I've missed a bit out, but it sounds about right!

Looks like I'm having a trip into town this afternoon! If they're only £1, plus I get vouchers. That's heavy on the MSE right? So I'm excused!

I love audiobooks - I couldn't sleep last night so I put I Capture the Castle on, I've read it and heard it and watched it about a thousand times so it doesn't really matter when I nod off! But they're great for long journeys, or short ones (my dad has been known to steal my mums ladies of letters cds!), when you're cooking or baking, ooh, You could use it when you start jogging! Admittedly you don't get the feel of the book, but they're still good.

Well I definitely do that so I feel a bit better now!! Erm, when I said 'Classics' I meant like Alice in Wonderland and things like that, not Pride and Prejudice and stuff :o Hope you're not disappointed!

No no.. I don't like childrens classics at all *ahem* *shifty eyes*

Do they still have 2 4 1 on paperbacks? Really want A Vintage Affair and The house at Riverton. Looking at books I could buy a van full - just finding time to read them!

ETA: Off to listen too Radio 4 and finish off the stock lists. Decided to have a root around charity shops for books this afternoon instead of WHsmiths. Have a nice day everyone! Eat a guilt free slice of cake on me.
