I would have thought that too (at least thats the moral high ground upper tack I was taking) but all it made him do was spend £5.20 on a monthers day card (more than an hours wages for him after tax on something that'll be binned!) as he had to 'make it up to her'. He's standing up for what he believes in, just because it's not her personal perspective shouldn't mean he then has to grovel for approval again! Christ my mum would be happy so long as I'm happy, NIMs seems to think him being happy is completely irrelevant and he's a failure for not being a high flyer.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Dinah, I don't really know what to say! Apart from when OHs Mum was making comments over the holiday in Cornwall it wasn't until he noticed how crushed I was by it all (after making the efforts for them to like me) that he was firmly on my side. Sending you a hug of the non dodgy type.0

I can understand that she misses him, I can't understand that she can't respect his decision as a mature adult. Woman has far too much time to meddle, she needs a hobby!
Work is bugging me today, want to be moneymaking! Only about 17p from having £30 on Dooyoo, still undecided if we're getting our camera from there or tesco, but we need to decide sharpish! That might be my task for tonight.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

A bit of rating will get you past that £30 mark in no time!
Completely off topic here, but I just need to vent and I can't do so in the office - the new girl is terrible at making tea, and coffee! She always forgets my sugar in coffee and I swear she must make it with a dessertspoon, and this cup of tea tastes like and actual dishcloth! Lovely girl, but looks like I'll have to be on tea tray duty from now on! (Feel better now)Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I'd go with Amazon personally, they have some really good cameras atm for £50, can't complain with that one!
As for the hobby - maybe she should get some cats?! Cats seem to make people much nicer!0 -
Somehow I don't see her as a cat person. Or anything living for that matter, not tidy or neat enough. She plays golf but it doesn't seem to be mellowing her enough!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh gosh Dinah, NIMs Mum sounds like a witch! I'm so lucky that my MIL loves me (although we are scarily alike, it is true that some men marry their mothers!). I agree that you should stick to being sweetness and light and reminding why NIM is here with you and not in Ireland alone being an accountant. Does his mother not care that accountants are known for being the most boring people in the world? (Sorry if we have any in our midst!) Probably not because he'd be wealthy and boring! Every mother wants successful children, but only if it makes them happy, surely? My Mum would rather I be skint and content than rich and miserable, and she's a fairly materialistic person so that's saying a lot!
Not that I'm bragging or anything Tete, but one of the ladies has just made me a lovely cuppa! Mmmm!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Nope I can officially vouch for having met one who puts successfull above absolutely everything else. I wondered why NIM was single so long since I think he's a fantastic bloke, now I know why, she's enough to scare off any competitor for her sons attention!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Aw Dinah, I don't know what to say. Try not to let it bother you. If it ends up making you all bitter towards her you may end up driving him back to her. At least you've got two weeks coming up where you'll have him all to yourself 24 hours a day to show him how amazing you areWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0
