Hope everybody has a great weekend - mines was too good. Ended up going to Edinburgh for a pub crawl and some dinner (the rugby was on, but we lost as usual), and ended up spending most of the money I had saved for my road tax - argh! Now need to find £60+ by next week without raiding my savings!
Had a wee hol yesterday to take receipt of my new fridge freezer, it's so shiny and new and feel better about spending £250 on it. OH is helping me to get the old one out for uplift and is making dinner so that's a bonus. He's like a big kid when I say I'm impressed with his cooking (just a ploy so he cooks more).
Dinah, don't worry about your MIL, I'm sure your OH knows where is bread is buttered.
Where about in Scotland did you live CMD?

Been out all morning doing campus tours for interview candidates, was ok actually as it's a nice sunny day and it got me out of my windowless office for the morning.
Hurrah, finally, for the interview Lara! Is there no way you can apply for the funding at all, seeing as it was the lecturer's illness that stopped you from having the interview before the deadline? What will you do if you can't get funding?
Cinny, you talking about your Vespa reminds me I saw a girl on the back of a bike over the weekend and she was wearing a pink jacket and pink helmet-looked exactly like Penelope Pitstop and made me think of you! How's the fringe working out for you? I fancy getting one cut in but my hair's quite fine and flyaway so don't know if it would suit.
CMD, have you ever been to the Oyster Festival in Galway? I really really fancy it for some reason!
Birdie, sounds like you've settled into domestic bliss quite nicely. That's the thing that sounds good about moving in with someone, you can do your own thing but still see them; when I'm with OH at the weekends I can't sit and write a letter to a friend or something because we are 'spending time together', and sometimes I feel like I never have time to do anything because I'm spending time with him!
OK it's 11am and I haven't done a thing yet so gonna have a quick burst of work before dinner!
Hi Tete,
I lived in Galway but never made it to the Oyster Festival. I think I was too young to do such cultural things when I lived there!!! It is supposed to be brilliant though. The Galway races and Arts festival are also excellent to go to as well. Everyone is drinking on the streets and the atmosphere is brilliant.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I'm useless with names of pubs but they were mostly in Rose Street and a few up the Royal Mile. The Black Rose Tavern was one, The Malt Shovel and The Albanach for dinner, with quite a few others inbetween. We didn't make it to the Grassmarket, but I really like Biddy Milligans cos it's where I met my OH. Ireland were playing Scotland on Saturday and the atmosphere was brill, much like it will be today!

The Malt Shovel on Cockburn Street was one of my fave pubs to watch a Rugby match or to have a drink. It is a great place! Sounds like a great day!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Maybe one day i'll be rich enough and .... go to Ireland
and I'm not even being sarcastic! My friend did manage to get a £1 flight to Ireland last year though.. hmm..
Just got a text saying I have another birthday card at home, I'm liking this turning 18 stuff! Getting cards off people I never normally do, even posting thank you letters back, check me out! As my Grandma said 'That'll go a long way'0 -
