Argh, and a money thing - just logged on to my A&L 'savings' account to see if my £5 Quidco has gone in (it hasn't) to find that I'm going to be charged a £5 under-funding fee for Feb!! Gah! I'm supposed to put in £500 per month, so I set up standing orders to put in £500 and take out £200 but because of the way they're set up I keep getting under-funding fees for things like the short month and months like Dec that are full of bank holidays (even though the month after double is paid in). I think I might take my money out and close the bloody account I'm that annoyed by it! Or threaten to and they might give me my fees back, do you think?

Hmm, I don't know what to suggest Tete. I'm closing my A&L account, I'm sick of not having a branch to go into and talk to someone about things like this! HSBC might be a pain in the backside but at least they have branches everywhere! We're trying Halifax for our joint account as they've got a local branch (we can't be bothered looking at APR etc as we never have enough money to gain interest on!)

It's still worth trying to get A&L to give you the fees back, they should be wanting your custom in these times!

And I'm sorry about the phone! There's nothing worse than a tantrum gone wrong!

There's not! And I've had two in three days!

I might try for the fees but I'm also wondering why I'm now only getting about 70p per month interest when I've been getting £3ish up until a few months ago, with less money in the account! For someone who spends half my life on this site I'm not too savvy!

I haven't got a clue about APRs etc, I just get a nice surprise when I see interest added to my accounts and don't think about whether or not it is more or less than what it was! Martin will be so disappointed! :money:

I so very nearly could have thrown a tantrum last night, OH seems to be trying to make a point re: my having a go at him over the weekend about his tidying up around me and the house was a tip last night, he hadn't done anything! And there was a huge pile of his clothes in the bedroom that he claimed he hadn't put away because I leave my clothes lying around... err, like my uniform which is tucked away in a corner to grab in the morning and a pair of damp jeans I had airing! If the place isn't clean when I get home there'll be trouble!

I've also just had to sort out a long lunch from work because my Mum is sending a Man with a Van over with a bookcase, she rang OH on Monday to make sure it was OK and check he'd be in all day, then he goes and makes a physio appointment for the exact time that the guy is due at ours! How useless can you get?! I suggested he gets his unemployed brother to wait at ours since it's not like he's got anything do to but noooooo, we can't put him out, muggins here can drive the 10 minutes from work, sort the delivery out, grab some lunch and drive back to work in my 30 minute lunchbreak, any longer and I have to stay late but I can't stay late today as I have to take him to hospital! Argh!!!!

:rotfl: Oh woe! We'd be so much better off without men! At least you're getting a bookcase to fill up with lovely booky books! (Couldn't think of a better adjective than 'booky' there - that's how well-read I am!)

Thankfully the guy turned up earlier than he was supposed to so OH can take the delivery and I don't have to race around like a headless chicken! Whoop! He's still in the bad books for stressing me out though! I told him that I will fill the bookcase because he'll just chuck anything and everything on it and I might as well do it properly in the first place rather than re-do it at a later date!

Oooh, I have money news! It isn't often I actually get to talk money so savour it... I just made £5! Yay! I made a christening card for my manager to give to her friend and she paid me £5 for it! It was a super card if I do say so myself, a tiara on the front with 'Christening' in silver swirly writing filling it like the wire bits in a tiara (IYKWIM!) over a 'patterned' paper I made myself which was 'Little Princess. Baby Girl' in swirly pink writing over and over. Inside is a pop up pink castle with little flags saying 'Princess *baby name*'. I wish I could keep it... this is why I prefer scrapbooking, I get to keep the end result!

    Bonjour ladies!

Where is everybody?! And where is our dress, Birdie? I did like the one yesterday, but it was a bit criss-crossy for me - gorgeous style though :) I think you're being v wise about the book case - my OH unpacked some of our (my) books when we moved and filled the shelves willy nilly. Some of the books were upside down! Seriously...

Sorry about your phone too, Tete! I totally empathise as I'm quite prone to the odd tantrum. I blame it on the fact I'm a fiery Scorpio, although OH will ask me if it's my 'special time' - enough to send anyone into a rage I'd have thought:rotfl:

Morning all. I can answer the mystery of why the thread has been so quiet - my shivering 24 hour flu on Saturday turns out not to be so 24 hour and I've spent the last 36 hours being extremely ill. Have progressed to being able to keep down un-boiled water now which is a step in the right direction.....

Very little money saving news here, when I get ill I get pouty and refuse to be productive! Planning on calling British gas today about that letter, and need to cancel a MS for tonight as there is no way I can face a meal out! Was sick just smelling bacon cooking yesterday.

NIM is at an interview thing right now for supply teaching jobs, fingers crossed it works out for him as he needs to be bringing in more money! Have made £1.85 on free scratchies today and did a few onepolls. Just realised we haven't done the surveys for a few days so that needs to be done, and NIM has to send some more parcels. Because of the MSs on Monday where he needed £5 of things to post per one this morning the postie turned up with a sack full of parcels for me. It's currently sat at the end of the bed but I'm a bit scared to try to start opening it all!

Planning to try to go to work even for a half day tomorrow as I have deadlines. My boss is off this week so I've been speaking to her second, our principal officer, who I get on with very well. She thinks I'm absolutely mad for wanting to swap my holiday days to cover my sickness, however I only have the next 2 weeks to use them up in, and the less sickness I can have on my record the better since they are talking about redundancies. More than anything I don't want my boss to know I'm ill again. Had a report due yesterday that was about 95% finished, got the principal officer to email it to me so I didn't miss the deadline. Couldn't type as too achy so had to dictate to NIM! Despite this I reakon my head would be second on the block if redundancies came around.

Going to go curl back into my ball now, going hot and cold and I'm entering a shivery 'need more duvets' phase now. Take care all.

ps, I really liked yesterdays DOTD actually!

Oh, poor Dinah! I hate having flu, I got it last year (and the year before...) and it's just awful, even my skin hurt! You should be nearing the end of it now, you'll be back on your feet by the weekend!

Tete, I didn't actually ask for £5 for the card, she just forced it upon me! I would have been happy with £2-£3 (since I used paper and card from work...shhh) but she wouldn't take it when I tried to give her £2 back so whaddya gonna do?!

Oooh, Poddle, you're putting DOTD pressure on me! Off I go on another hunt... ;)
