Well i for one definatly think you deserve it after all the debt busting you have done!! I know alot of poeple on here would frown upon people going on holiday when in debt, but i think you always have to have something to keep you going. I would never give up my yearly holidays, no way!nono.gif I cant wait to go on holiday in the summer!

I am so very jealous! Actually its somewhere i have always wanted to go, and very nearly did two years ago, but for some reason we booked somewhere else at the last minute

Yay, Camels!! Sounds like you've got a fun two weeks to look forward too with NIM.

Up to £500 in savings now, although I have figured I'll need to be saving £85 a week just to slightly pass £1,000 by the end of March, this seems impossible!

Yay to booking your holiday Dinah! It sounds lovely, I'm not jealous at all...

I hope you get your caravan Cinny, I can totally understand your not wanting to feel 'exposed' in front of your OH's parents if you've got tricht...trico...eyelash pully outy disease! I've got ASD, not as much as a 'typical' sufferer but bad enough for me to appear 'odd' and the idea of spending a lot of time in a small space with anyone other than OH or my family scares me!

Good luck with the savings, 'If you aim for the moon and miss at least you'll land among the stars', just remember that!

I think I might pocket that saying, Birdie!

OH knows about the Trich, I reminded him last night and he said 'oh, caravan might be the better idea then' oh ta, keep the 'freak' away from the family. I do use it as an excuse sometimes to pluck his monobrow :D moo-ha-ha
My mums friends' son (sounding a bit country there) has ASD too, causes him a lot of problems at school with teaches not understanding it properly. I'm glad that the 'time to change' website has come about!
  • Morning Ladies! Dear me - I leave work one hour early and you fill three pages! My news is- had a lovely meal and chocolate fudge cake last night in a country pub with a roaring fire while it snowed outside, it was brilliant. And I now have my coveted new handbag, so I'm a very happy bunny!!

Lara- Those are the kind of prices I'm looking for for NY, OH and I decided we're definitely going there in Nov for his bday, and definitely going to Paris around May/June because I have my heart set on it, and whether or not we manage a cheap week somewhere in the sun in between - we'll see.

We went to Cuba last year and I confirm it's wonderful. It was a bit of a splash out at the time for me, but I wanted to go before Castro pegs it because I definitely think that when he does there'll be a McDonalds on every corner... but then I think you can hardly blame the Cubans for wanting stuff like that, we can't keep them living in poverty so that we have somewhere interesting to visit. We did a twin centre thing with three nights in Havana and the rest of the two weeks on an all-inclusive. I'm really not the type to do beaches and luxury hotels but I thought that I wanted some time to relax and do nothing on a beach at the time as my Mam had just died. But I'm very fair skinned and it was VERY hot, and there's not a lot else on the resorts apart from the beach so I wouldn't do it again. We went on a couple of trips out into little villages and they were brilliant, and of course Havana is just another world, it's so beautiful in a shabby sort of way. If any of you end up going you have got to have a ride on a coco taxi - they are the best things ever!

Poddle- I forgot Ronda existed, it's so lovely with its cobbled streets and that enormous bridge, would be a fantastic place to get married! I love Andalucia. The next Spanish place on my list is Madrid but I'd love to go back to the south and show OH around. God my feet are itching like mad with all this talk!

Dinah- that's a shame about the gym but at least now you have the holiday as incentive you should get your money's worth! So, you're off to the Pyramids?! Egypt is definitely high on my list, in fact I think it's on my 30 by 30 list (which I'm yet to do anything from come to think of it!) How much did you pay in the end then? If you don't mand me asking, tho I'm sure you won't - money's hardly a taboo here is it?!

CMD- I agree about the sig - no-one judges you here for anything (although I was once shot down on a bank account board for being £1500 in debt ) And it's a great motivator - look at me, I have no more debt but I've got allsorts in mine, not even money related, just to spur me on!

Cinny - Well done on the savings, that's the halfway point, all downhill from here! I think if the campsite has caravans on it then that's perfect - it's still sort of camping and give you a bit of privacy with OH. I think I saw something on embarrassing illnesses about the eyelash thing, sounds vv painful!!

Erm, OK, sorry for hijakcing your thread with a v long post Dinah but I think that's everything I wanted to say to everyone... Best get some work done eh?

I was only diagnosed last year, everyone just thought I was weird and shy! Apparently girls often go undiagnosed as it is mistaken for shyness. Anyhoo, it's great to play on when I don't want to do something, or if I do want to do something and OH doesn't, I just blame my 'Autistic Head' and he lets me off! ;)

That was a very impressive post Tete, I now want to go to Cuba after everyone has been saying such good things about it! Yet another country on my 'To Visit' list! It seems to be growing at a much faster rate than it gets crossed off!

    Hi Birdie,

I work with people with ASD and it is true that a lot of people are undiagnosed because it is blamed on people being a bit eccentric or odd. Some people that I chat to don't like having a label but others say that it is like the lights have been switched on in their life.

I feel like such a hermit, you're all adding amazing places to your lists and mine's just growing with places in England, bar New York.

Dinah, you'll have to take the typical picture of you standing with it looking like a Pyramid is in your hand if you go!

I don't see it as a label, I see it as a explanation for my whole life! Like you say, a light has been switched on! I've never fit in properly with my peers, never got the inane chatter and silliness of girlfriends... I always seemed to be on a different level. Not better or worse, just different. It's nice to know where I fit now and I make jokes about my 'Autistic Head' but it is how I deal with never feeling like everyone else!
