The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

My dream hit-list this year would be Egypt now, Venice in June and New York at Christmas. Never gonna happen unless we win the lottery though. Which is a little unlikely since we don't play...Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

No I don't play either but Grandma does and always says she doesn't want a lot, just £10k or something to be comfortable, then I get the restWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Good luck with the gym Dinah. I cancelled my gym membership at the huge, super-modern complex near my office last year but I've just joined a local gym - it's a bit like the gym in Dodgeball, but it is cheap
it has the same stuff and some really good classes though. Everyone says that the more you get into exercise, the more you start to love it - that's never happened to me! I'm bribing myself to go to the gym today so I can do some (window) shopping afterwards...
I might pick up a couple of bits to make OH a card too. Yesterday I ruined his surprise pressie for me - oops! I saw this dress I really liked in Warehouse a few weeks ago - it would be really good for interviews, and it took all my will power to leave it in the shop, but yesterday I came across a 20% voucher and remembered that I have some Debenhams vouchers from Christmas and I could buy it in there. I was all excited and started babbling on about it to him and his little face just fell... it turns out that he'd gone back into town to buy it as a surprise! Aww(don't worry, will still do the MS thing and use the vouchers!)
Tete, I saw most of the new David Attenborough last night, but I couldn't watch the end in case it was too sad. I'm useless with animal-related things - god, especially those little guillemots bouncing off the ground. But I did see a really nice video on bbc news this morning about a koala being rescued from the fires in Australia - the lovely fireman was feeding it water from a bottle.
btw, sorry I can't seem to quote bits that would make this reply make more sense!
uh oh, now I'm thinking about hols... your 2009 wishlists all sound lovely - girls gotta dream, right? xxLBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Oh gee, My list is very boring compaired to yours and Tetes! Other than Cornwall in May i'd like - Kent in August, Bath in October and a weekend in Bakewell at Christmas. With the last two being very short weekend breaks, still out of reach!0

Ooooh, all of this Holiday talk is making me sad! Especially as it is snowing again today!
I think I may have to start looking for something cheap, OH needs the sun to help him heal after his op...Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Uhoh, just worked out to do venice and new york would only be about £3 each per day we need to save, suddenly my plan has legs....
OH seems amenable to the Egypt one too, would mean using some of my 2009 holiday extremely early, but since we've kinda already pencilled in where we want the rest of the holiday, I can live with that, and then do a nice big trip summer 2010..... I can feel the sun already.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

New York would be an amazing place to go too, and £3 a day isn't bad! Or shouldn't I fuel it?
It's snowing here too, Birdie, quite heavily. I was feeling all ready for spring after the last bits melted! Sick of winter now, was so cold all last year. I can only remember a handful of sunny weekends!0 -
No £3 a day is very do-able. That is a very, very happy plan. We could use one of the spare savings accounts, or open a new one specifically for holidays.
Have asked mum if Thomas Cook take the tesco vouchers, if they do i think we might go for the egypt one altogether, as I just had the sudden brainwave if we sold both our old laptops, that would cover our spending money while we are over there!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

£3 a day is very do-able! I may even have to use that idea myself!
