I'm really looking forward to it; I scrapbook and make cards so it is heaven for me! I've been going for about 2 years now (2 shows a year) so I have learnt to go with lots of money and big shopping bags! I think there are some classes going on so I might see if I can signed up to one. Not sure who I'll go with though, don't have any scrappy friends! I haven't tried origami yet tete, my MIL got me a book about teabag folding so that's next on my list!

I'd like to say I'll keep an eye out for holidays for you Dinah but if I look I'll want to go and I don't think we'll be able to afford a holiday this year!

Kent in Spring is lovely, and Chartwell opens on the 14th of March, if you don't mind staying in the UK there are some amazing cottages to rent for 5 day weeks and pretty cheap too. Then there's Down House and an amazing 1930's Art Deco house that I can't remember the name of. That's my idea anyways!

That sounds like a good idea Cinny, we haven't seen enough of our own country! I love the idea of the Art Deco house! If only we could ensure that it will be nice weather... I'd love to go to Miami some day and see all the Art Deco buildings there, it looks lovely!

The art deco house was fantastic. You could have a day in Dover too - go through the war tunnels in the cliffs. They were fantastic! If not really spooky. You can see my British History geek coming out then. I will stop now.

Birdie - I'm tempted to go to that show now! I've quickly managed to fill a basket of scrapbook things I'd love. Might treat myself tomorrow, but I should behave!

No, don't behave! If I'm going down I'm dragging you down with me! Or wait until you get to the show and go mad! I shouldn't really be talking like this on a money saving forum... if you go there might be special show deals on so you could save a bit of money! There, that's better! ;)

  • Hiya! Haven't posted on this thread in a while! Just wanted to say...

Cinny - love the idea of your man crying watching the notebook (I always cry watching that film!); mine cried when we went to the cinema to watch miss potter :rotfl: I can get him to do almost anything by threatening to tell his brother; he maintains that I'm making it up :rotfl:

Dinah - my OH is a bit like that; it makes him so happy to do things for me, how could I refuse ;) Anyway, have you checked out the latest ryanair sale? Just look for the flights with no taxes, and if you're only going to Europe for a few nights then you only need to take hand baggage and so you won't have to pay to check anything in. My OH and I are going to Krakow for a few nights at the end of March; ryanair flights £10 each, accommodation £18 each altogether - but then we don't mind a basic private room in a youth hostel. Worth looking at?

Cinny (again!) - think the Art Deco house might be Eltham Palace? I live near there!

Andromache - It wasn't Eltham Palace, but that's on my to see list. It looks amazing! I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

Birdie - Don't encourage me! I think I'll have to drag my mum to the show, although she's more of a wool crafts lady. I'll show her it tonight, and try and get my basket down to £20 then maybe treat myself.

Yep it's some ryanair flights we found to Barcelona, just need somewhere to stay though. So long as it is clean I'm not too fussed.

Not interested in England, we used to have a caravan so I've seen a huge ammount of it, and it never seems like a proper 'break' to me, plus £90 for 5 days in Barcelona, I would spend that just on petrol to get to Devon or Bornemouth or somewhere, then we have to pay for accomodation, would rather go somewhere a bit different.

Just found 2 weeks to Egypt for £490 with Thomas Cook, 1 week march 1 week april, owww it hurts to close the window!

  • Egypt seems to be cheap quite a lot, I think because they keep bombing tourists... wouldn't bother me though, I'd love to go! Are you looking for 2 weeks of just one? OH and I fancy trying for a cheap week in Ibiza, seems to be somewhere you can go for not much and I want to see the Northern end of the island - the hippy bit? This is as well as Dublin, Paris and New York - all of which I want to do this year! Hmm.... I wish I was Judith Chalmers!

£90 for 5 days in Barcelona is amazing, I think I've brainwashed myself into thinking England is the best place for holidays ever with my lack of passport and money. I'm sure you'll find something fantastic for your money with those prices!

I'm looking at holiday cottages now! Starting to regret agreeing to go on holiday with OH's family, I'm looking forward to spending time with them but not so much camping with them. I'll sound spoilt if I try and get me and OH a cottage close by now.
