The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

Mmmm, I suppose it would be quite nice if we have a picture of us all scruffy and dusty if that's how it works out! Otherwise I'll be making him wear his 'Sunday Best' with major threats of pain if he gets dirty. That boy just has to look at food to spill it down his front!
Just found out that the Great Northern Papercraft Extravaganza (There's that exciting word again!) is on 28th & 29th March. Time to get saving!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I despise Valentine's with a vegence, my personal feeling is it's a cop out and guys can pass themselves off as being romantic by being pressured by Hallmark into doing it on this one specific day a year. If he was really romantic he'd be just as romantic randomly on October 13th or August 7th, just to suprise you.
If I'm making I think it'll be vegetable pancakes with red pesto and ricotta and then some form of meat on the side for the boys who can't get their head around meatless meals!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

You sound just like my mum! 'If they can't show you they love you everyday, it isn't worth it.' Pretty true.
But I like valentines, personally, I have a bunch of vintage valentines postcards with love notes written on the back. I'm very much an old romantic! Last year I got OH a copy of the notebook, shh but he cried at the movie, and made a card that said 'if you're a bird then I'm a bird' not so romantic this year with a pulp fiction wallet, decided to be practical with the gift. And I think it's a takeaway pizza for our tea  Oh well! Just a bit of fun.
Ohh, tea sounds lovely, feeling peckish now! Not a clue what will be for tea tonight, I think my belly is due a plate of stew and dumplings.0 -
Oooh, the pancakes sound good! All of the men in my family can't get their heads around meatless meals either, it is quite silly really! My Dad doesn't think he's had a proper meal if he's not had meat or fish!
I agree with what you say about Valentines Day, but OH isn't a huge soppy romantic so anything to encourage him is OK by me! That said, he doesn't go down the 'traditional route' and buy me flowers because they're too expensive and 'They're a waste of money because they die within a week'! Last year he got me vouchers for the Turkish Bath in Harrogate, it was brilliant!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I'm lucky in that NIM is very, very romantic anyway, he's one of those rare breed of men who actually derives his pleasure from making me happy, more so than doing things that are for him. Anyone else who has one of these, don't let him go! It would just feel forced, and I wouldn't like that. That said I'm doing a bit of fantasy shopping - could go for a week in venice for about £320 per person in a nice 4 star hotel in June for our one year anniversary - a girl can dream!
We're considering going and doing a cheap as we can get 5 days in march somewhere, I thought I had found Barcelona for £90 per person but the hotel is shared bathrooms, which I don't do. So if anyone sees an amazing deal anywhere, from Newcastle, Leeds or Durham Tees Valley, 5 days in March, Wed-Sun/Monday, let me know!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I think I'm a bit on the fence with valentines - I agree with cards and doing something together, but not presents.
Papercraft extravaganza sounds brill (had trouble typing that, never had to spell it before!). I got my origami book out this week and was all proud of OH's Valentine card... now thinking about making Christmas cards again this year after swearing never again as there's quite a simple origami Christmas tree which I think would make a nice card.
Is MIN's debt going on your CC1 Dinah, the one with no balance? I think that's a really good idea to keep it in a separate 'pot' so you know where you are with it. Hopefully the 4-6 weeks thing with the cheque is just the bank covering themselves in case it does take that long.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Watch out in travel agent windows close to the time Dinah, packages tend to work out cheaper I think if you don't mind where you go and can book late, and then you're covered if anyone goes bust as well :rolleyes:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Yep it's gone on empty CC1 to keep it seperate. Just realised, if it does take the full 6 weeks we won't be able to use my ISA allowance as we'll have to withdraw it to pay CC2 before the 0% period expires.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Very true Tete, it's only about 3-4 weeks away, might be worth a browse next time I'm in town, I'd love Italy, but would take anywhere really. It's a case of lowest price wins!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
