  • I saw the very last couple of minutes Cinny and it looked fascinating I was sorry I'd missed it.

Woo, my Quidco cashback has finally appeared in my bank! I was starting to worry I'd put the wrong details in and someone else was benefitting. So that's another £23.21 to add to my ISA fund. I think once we get to April and I've paid that in I'm going to start a fund for possibly needing a new car as my MOT's due in August. I've got a 1995 Micra so if it costs over about £300 to repair it, then that's more than the car's worth so if I can save up to about £1000 by August then that shold be a good protion of a new (old) car. And if the Micra's fine then it'll all go in the ISA anyway :) Sorry bit off a waffle there, I'm thinking out loud again...

OH is worried about his car costing more to repair than it's worth this year too, I offered to use the money I'd spend on his laptop to buy him an old fiat uno (The car love of my life, still not a clue why) or an old fiat panda but apparently they're ugly so he doesn't want one. Hmph.

Good news about the Quidco money coming through! Your ISA top up fund is looking great.

Just booked myself into specsavers for next week. Seen the 2 for 1 on £75 glasses so I'm going to go for them and then I'll have a spare (hoo-rah)

I have to do them like that for portion sizes, I can easily much down 2 if they're cut up but feel guilty going back for seconds if they're in cases. no idea why, glad the recipe went well though!

Did anyone watch that boys and girls alone last night? The boys were so much nicer than the girls, even if they were beating the hell out of each other.

CMD - I have to rate mine pretty highly! We've had this one for about 6 - 7 years and it's only just starting to show some wear. It's great to use when I'm listening to an audio book.

    Hi Cinny,

Yes, I am looking forward to mine arriving. Glad yours is still in good nick after 6-7 years!!! I think the idea about going on it after buying clothes is brilliant!

I think it's because it's only me and my sister who use it, only once or twice a week each. I might keep up the spend £1 - run a minute. Hope you have fun with yours!

Going to ring up abbey (again) about this bloody account, still no letter after over 2 weeks. Might ask them to close it and go to HSBC, or just tell them that and hope they do something about it. This money is asking to be spent in my current account!

Morning all. Dinner went on later than expected last night, and more to the point I had a frankly staggering 7 glasses of wine with it, so didn't do much of the to do list last night, just got OH to do the free scratchies! I never normally drink that much but my glass just kept getting refilled! It's more than possible I was still over the limit getting to work this morning. No headache or anything though.

OH interview in 25mins, think I am more nervous than he is. In addition if he gets the job then we'll know for certain if we're going on holiday in March, if they ask him at interview he is going to say its already booked, my dad says they shouldn't hold that against him? I really, really want a holiday. Warm, and cultured and with nice food. He's going to go down to the teacher recruitment place after I think as the call center job is only part time.

Went to Tesco last night to get the bits for baking, and get OH a clean top as the one he was planning to wear last night looked like he had drooled on it! I managed to leave my new center parcs reusable bag somewhere, so we spent a good 15mins searching over all the aisles for it, I was very upset when we met up in the fruit and veg in the middle and there was no sign of it, then we turned to go to the till and someone had hung it over the bottles of coke right in front of us! Makes me glad someone would hang it up rather than take it, know its only a reusable bag but it's a little reminder of my great weekend away, and i dont want to loose it just yet!

Bits for baking came to £10, which I think is pretty reasonable for brownies, cookies, and scones. Might post my recipies on Dooyoo to cover tonights reviews.

    To do today:
    • One Poll
    • Free Scratchies
    • Catch up on surveys
    • Baking
    • 2 Dooyoo reviews
    • Parcel up 3 parcels that have now paid
    • Check bank account and find out if paypal money has cleared
    • Finally face reading the stroppy ebay emails
    • Reply to the comment on paypal, which I can't access from work
I'll admit I was a little dissapointed not to get any more crowns today on Dooyoo, c'est la vie, but they seem so hard to get its little incentive to write well. They could do with a bronze, silver and gold crown system or something.

I do kind of need to tidy my room, it looks like the tazmanian devil took a spin in it, but the main thing is two boxes of papers which need sorting out, if I can clear those then there will be more space, but I think that's a job for the weekend.

Good luck to your OH, I'm sure he'll charm them with his Irish (nearly put Dutch, oh lord) accent. I bet you'll have a million and one thoughts going about in your head if he gets it, lovely future planning ideas! Where as I only have one thing - 'anything good on tv tonight?'

They shouldn't hold going on holiday soon against you OH in the interview - OH got his job then within the next month or so we were off for a weekend to Cumbria. They can't expect people to not go on holiday, even more so now it's coming up to holiday season. Although I might, going on a nice warm holiday away. Even if I do have fingerscrossed sunny cornwall weather and pub lunches to look forward too - still thinking of going to Egypt?

Let me know if you post the recipes on dooyoo, be nice to try a few new ones! I think we've gone from a thread of book worms to a group of little bakers.

I will, think they might be the recipies for today. Have made the brownies before but not the scones so will see how they go. I'm still a bookworn, need to review a book I finished on Monday actually, was extremely good. Unusual sci-fi type read called 'Fat'. Am now reading 'The Pirate's Daughter. A few of the other books I read have now been added to the site, so could review those, but I put so much effort into a book review, and for 50p I'm beginning to think there isn't much point and I'd rather review my yoghurt or lipbalm, which are about 200 word reviews!

Have a MS for a travel agents today, was looking forward to it as she can actually do a search for the holiday I want with OH, but turns out it was yesterday! Have emailed to ask to reschedule it. Hope so, £10 fee for something I would do anyway!

If OH gets the job I'm going to take him out to dinner tonight, my treat. He's always so nice to me, and spoils me rotten, and if he gets the job then it's very worthy of a celebration. Can always do the baking when I get back or tomorrow evening as there are loads of treats in the office atm from someone elses birthday (not until the 14th, no idea why he brought them in so early!).

  • SEVEN glasses of wine?! I'd be in no fit state for anything if I'd had that last night! Sounds like a good night though. Fingers crossed for your OH - is it just a normal call centre for a bank or something? If so they have such a high turnover of staff he should have no problem. Or is it more specialised? They can't hold his holidays against him if it's already booked and I know loads of people who start a job and go on hols the next week so I wouldn't worry about that.

No crowns for me either even though I've apparently been nominated a few times. It's true - you only get about £1.50 for a crown don't you? It would be easier to churn out 3 x 200 words and get the same amount...

Brownies are getting the thumbs up from my colleagues Cinny :) They linger on the palette don't they? Yum!

OH is getting annoyed at me - there's loads of films on I want to see at the minute and I have an orange phone and a McDonald's 2for1 that can be used any day but only at a certain cinema so I'm looking at the listings trying to work out what to see, where and when so that we don't have to pay full price. He's new to moneysaving and can't understand why I'm so tight all the time when I work for a living and have plenty of money :o

Dinah, I really hope OH's interview goes well - it's such a horrible, nervewracking thing, especially waiting to hear back afterwards! Will he find out quite quickly? It sounds like a few more options are opening up now though? People say that December/January aren't great months for finding a job at the best of times.

I had an interview at Penguin, working on DK travel guides (only the most perfect job for me!) but I just found out that I "wasn't successful on this occasion". boo. I'm telling myself that I did well to get the interview, but somehow it feels more personal if they reject you after meeting you!

I'm making Cinny's cookies this afternoon to cheer myself up :) and then straight back on the job hunt!

  • Aw Poddle, what a shame - sounds like it would have been a fantastic job! Are you an editor or something (what I've got from your dooyoo account)? How do you get into that? I imagine it's quite competitive. Still, it's good to have the experience of an interview anyway. Are you applying for just anything at this stage or still trying to be a bit picky?
