Just got a phone call from OH. Turns out there wont be any training at all for him and it was just a trick to get him to move to a lesser branch of Ladbrokes. He's really starting to hate it there - he's been messing up a bit recently because the person above him is always on their phone rather than helping. I think it's alittle bit to do with him missing his buddy from the old branch, but I have to take his word for it! Looking at William Hill for jobs for him.

I shouldn't tempt you but they're £4.99 for 2 in superdrug *ahem* I put my grey varnish on sunday night and it still going strong having survived two showers and one boiling bath.

    Oooh grey sounds nice.

Great news about your OH, Dinah.

I had a great day today, yooo.

Firstly I went to the library at LSE. It's so cool, a big atrium with a giant spiral ramp down the centre. And the best thing - it's free! This saves me £65 renewing my other library membership.

Then I realised that all the council tax for the year is paid, and we have two months off. And we have one free month on our gas and electric bills. SO therefore I will have enough money for February!

Now I need to make enough money for March  and half of April. I *really* don't want to raid my ISA. Fingers crossed I get the part time job from yesterday!

  • Best of luck with the job Lara. What is it for?

Re: Spanish. I think they all work on the grammar first. We used to have a bit of conversation at the beginning of the lesson and she gave us vocab to learn every week and would test it on us. I think Tete is right about learning a lot when you live in the country. When we go we try to cook one night and we go to the market and buy various bits and pieces, just so we can see if we could do that much. The rest of the time I like to eat out!

Yeah, Barcelona is a fantastic city. It has it all, beaches, mountains, shopping, good food and good nightlife! Can you tell I'm obsessed!

  • Morning all, well I'm still alive after the rusty nail incident and not suffering any facial spasms which are apparently a symptom of tetanus so I think I'll be alright :)

That's rubbish about your OH Cinny, hope he manages to find something else soon. My toes are loving the Barry M by the way!

Great news Lara, it's fab when loads of stuff like that comes together!

Right, no time to Dooyoo last night so going to do a bit today...

*edit* - my bank transfer has now shown up so I can update my savings to £1537, woo. Still waiting on my Quidco money though...

He says he'll start looking for a new job on sunday. Now he's got a bit of knowledge for a bookies i'm sure it'll be much easier for him.

I was looking forward to using the nice glittery red on my nails tonight but found a french manicure kit so I'm attempting that. Glad your toes are happy!

Well done on upping your savings to £1537! Now, fancy lending me £1000 for a day in march to impress my grandad with? :D
Actually quite on target with that, managed to save £350 this month, so if I can do another £350 feb + march I'll be sitting pretty at £1,050 for the 31st. Then comes vespa insurance, a new helmet, 2 cosmetic repairs, new gloves and my 125cc test. So I'll loose it faster than I saved it.
  • Ah but it's all in a good cause, better than frittering it away on stuff like, for example, nail varnish :D. How much does insurance cost out of interest?

The Hotel Chocolat Tasting Club link is now working again on Quidco :D Not that I've been checking it every morning since we first discussed it or anything :o

haha, I'd almost forgotten about that until I got an email about it. Nail varnish isn't frittering money away if it's Barry Manilow nail varnish.

Insurance last year was £150 - hoping it might be a little less this year though. Thankfully my 125 test will only be about £20 as my Uncle can do it for me.

    *edit*

Got the dreaded phone call from mum - we're going to hobbycraft. Oh dear, must stay strong!

Hi all, very quick post before I go away. OH suprised me yesterday by turning up at work with this huge bunch of flowers. I was actually sat in reception at the time he arrived, talking to an applicant. She said he had made her day, and I was lucky to have such a romantic husband! (This then sent me into a spiral that I look older than I am, and I am past the point where people assume the man with me is my boyfriend but is my husband!). So he met a few of my collegues, and then we went out and spent my Boots voucher and got the £18.50 protect and perfect syrum, 5 pairs of hold ups, some blusher, and a big makeup bag full of No7 samples all for £14 with £2 worth of Boots points too! Was quite chuffed with that. Plus OH paid, he' giving me daily birthday pressies, very romantic, yesterday was the flowers and technically today is the sirum. He tried to get me a center parks spa voucher on last minute.com, but they don't include any treatments!

All packed for center parks, just have some parcels to send before I go, and OH needs to call the OU. Have a nice weekend all!

  • Aw that's lovely! I know what you mean about looking old, when we were on hols last summer everyone assumed it was our honeymoon - maybe we looked in the first flushes of love?!

Well have a fab time and a lovely birthday! _party_
