I went bk on he 05/0/08, I rang Nationwide they said I could have a basic bank a/c with them but needed to open it with £100, but that there were no credit checks, but don't know for sure as I didn't get that far.
On the way to Nationwide I stopped in at Barclays really helpful man, I filled out the forms and provided the ID etc, they posted it off said he couldn't see a prob. ( but I do have a 5/6 year old debt with barclaycard). He said I would hear in 3/4 days.
It actually took 3 weeks and I was turned down.
But after reading on this site I sat here one evening and thought sod it .... and rang the co-op, went through all the questions with a lovely bloke, after about 5 mins he said I am please to say you have been accepted, said thanks and put the phone down. Didn't have to take any ID in or anything.
I sat for 10 mins with a stupid grin on my face all because I got a bank a/c......how sad am I.
(but grateful) now all going without a hitch.

Got my brand spanking new card in front of me and its a Barclays Connect Visa Debit card

Basically its a Visa debit card without cheque guarantee facilities. It is NOT an electron card and is actually accepted at more places than Electron

Hi All card arrived Saturday morning its a visa debit connect so will not have the same restrictions as the electron one

How long does a Barclays account take to get ? I was going to go in at lunchtime today but really need an account number & sort code etc asap as I need to get paid on wednesday. Does any one know?

Hi I applied on a tuesday got my pin on the thursday and card on the saturdayso less than a week

Fab. I went in today anyways and they opened the account and then her system crashed but I should have the account number etc tomorrow. Whew. Relief.

Has anyone seen their Experian file after opening a Barclay's Cash Account do they do a full "current account" credit check or is it another type of search.
