Got my brand spanking new card in front of me and its a Barclays Connect Visa Debit card
Basically its a Visa debit card without cheque guarantee facilities. It is NOT an electron card and is actually accepted at more places than Electron

I was made BR on 18th August. I have held 2 accounts with Natwest - 1 first reserve savings account, and a step account. The first reserve account was closed down last week. I contacted Natwest a few weeks after Bankruptcy to explain I had been made bankrupt, and would really like to keep the step account open, and they agreed, as I did not owe them any money, and have run my account well since I have been with them, they have been great.Saving target £6k by Aug 2011Raised so far £350/£6k0

Hi,
Just wondering what would happen to my joint bank account with my wife if I went bankrupt. It is only used for her wages, but my name is on the account.
How would this affect her account?
Thanks.แล้วไงต่อ0 -
I applied for a Braclays Cash Card account and have been refused, so it seems that they are not accepting bankrupts anymore0
-
Gaz yes they are accepting BR's. Are you sure it is because of the BR they refused you? Have you asked why they refused you? Have you checked your credit file to make sure you haven't something like a CIFAS report on it?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Hi,
Have just joined this forum, but would love some advice, my husband and I were both declared bankrupt last April, had our bank acct frozen so set up bank acct with Co-op, evreything running smoothly until just checked my acct and they have stopped all direct debits and said the acct is going to be closed as had 2 direct debits returned. We was not made aware of any 3 strikes and your out when we took the acct on. I have to now wait 3 months to be able to re-instate my d debits/s orders. I don't think this is fair when we weren't told of this at time of opening acct.0 -
Picasso,
It doesn't really matter whether you think it's fair or not - this policy is in their terms and conditions so they have a right to do it. Have you approached Barclays for an account?

I made it through!Don't ignore a problem. Unlike a bad smell, it won't eventually go away.0 -
Sieve,
Thanks for your reply, no I'm seriously thinking about giving them a call, do you know if they operate the same way as the co-op?

I was Bankrupt in September 2003 and was discharged when the one year rule was commenced on 01/04/2005. I managed to obtain a bank account with Nationwide in August 2006. I cannot for the life of me get them to upgrade to get a debit card.
So, I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable lot can perhaps recommend any banks etc, or just provide any useful info?
Cheers0
