ok bit of a strange one but have any of your babies/children had a problem with tomatoes??? i gave Charlie some cherry toms with his lunch this afternoon and where the juice went on his face went raised and bright red?? he eats tomato sauces in his pasta etc and has never had a problem. not sure what to do as after an hour or so after being washed it went down and he doesnt seem bothered, worst thing is that he absolutly loved them!

I used to be ill after eating tomatoes when I was little. I'd come out in a mild rash like heat rash and then I'd vomit. I couldn't eat anything with tomato in like pizza, bolognaise, baked beans etc.

Egg yolk also used to bring me out in an awful red rash with raised itchy lumps all over me. I couldn't eat boiled eggs or omlettes etc, but I was ok with things where small quantites of egg is well mixed in like cake or meatloaf.

I grew out of it as I got older, and as an adult I can eat both foods with no effects whatsoever
Here I go again on my own....

yeah oz gets littles rashes round his face if i don't wash certains foods off straight away. prob gets it from me, i come out in a rash if i eat too many strawberries or oranges.

i'm thinking of buying him a walker for christmas cos he's at that stage now where he wants to go places but he isnt crawling and he's fed up lying down or sitting in his ring thing, he's always holding his hands out wanting to stand up and he stands really well for 6 months. my mother hates them and says they're really unsafe but surely they couldnt be that bad or they wouldnt be sold! any recommendations? was thinking of this one http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000TZMNL0/ref=ts_dp_3/280-7146106-9088915?ie=UTF8&mcb=core

this thread may put you off http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1323959

I would say if you do get one make sure he can put his feet flat on the floor in it. if only his toes touch the floor your asking for him to have problems walking later!
and on the unsafe point its mainly because people forget or underestimate what they can do with the new found freedom, and make sure he doesn't have access to any steps that he could fall down.

Ps. I know it sounds like I'm against them but Christopher had a walker and I will be using it for bump too :A

EDIT: We had this one given to us. the exact design isn't avail now but the best bit was the toy bit slides out of the way to reveal a tray for snacks http://www.babyworldonline.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=139&products_id=464

Haven't seen Sami-Bee's link but my choice of walker was this.

Edited to add, this walker doesn't encourage tippie toe walking

    hello sami! :D
thanks wasnt sure if he had reaction but is probably the acid in them, will keep an eye on him though!
he is also teething so that probaby doesnt help either

i have baby walker but charlie doesnt like it he prefers to make his own way about and prefers the moove and groove leappad station we were given, its like a walker without wheels and the seat spins

We've got that one too, My only prob with it was when he was littleand couldn't stand up by himself he would try to pull himself up using the handle, tip it over and end up banging his head on the floor and then the walker would land on top of him and burst his lip :( its great since he learnt to stand on his own and still plays with it now he's nearly 2

  • Personally I think babies develop better with space to crawl and things to pull up onto, just my opinion but I don't like anything restrictive, walkers, door bouncers, bumbo's. I did use a door bouncer occasionally though so I am not a snob about any of it! He loved it at first but I got rid soon after as it just seems a bit unnatural to force them upright when they can't hold their own weight IYSWIM. Elliot has been walking for two months now and can practically run and I think it's the freedom he has that has allowed this to develop so well.

Elliot is due his MMR on Thursday, I think I am cancelling and having singles, anyone else done this (I know SusanC has - I think?!) Actually I keep changing my mind, I read one thing and am set on MMR, read another and am dead against it - I don't think you can win.

I'm with your mum on this one I'm afraid I'm not too keen on any baby equipment that forces them to do things they haven't yet learned to do themselves.

I'd second izooms recommendation the little walker gives them lots to interest them while they are still at the crawling/pulling up stage and then is nice and sturdy for when they are first tottering around the furniture.

On the subject of car seats mentionec previously I found that I had to turn LO earlier than I would have liked as he has a long body and was being scrunched up inside the 3 point harness of our creatis fix car seat. We bought the britax first class si like izoom too because I wanted LO to stay rear facing but the rear facing fit was terrible in our car.....however it was the best fit if all of them forward facing  :p .

    My friend has this one

    http://www.mothercare.com/Recaro-Young-Sport-Carseat-Black/dp/B000WXL7TI/sr=1-3/qid=1228221516/ref=sr_1_3/279-3436441-1953508?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=68213031&mcb=core

and although it dpesn't tilt for sleeping (which is another reason I liked the si ultra) it is REALLY comfy...and goes up to age 12!
