what age did you all move your babies to the second car seat. my LO is in the maxi cosi cabriofix at the minute and i know they're meant to be in them til 9-12 months. i can barely lift him anymore (and he's not that big only about 16lbs)! but i know he has to stay in it until at least 9 months for safety reasons.
edit to add: just checked maxi cosi website - the cabriofix can do a child until they are 26lb!! i'd have arms like arnie! as soon as he's 9 months he's in the next one - do they have to be the age and the weight or either? iykwimDON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I moved Samantha into a rear facing car seat when she was about 5 months old. Then when she was over 20lbs (at about 10.5m) I changed it so that she was forward facing. This is mine.
Right now, my question:
We bought a fireguard many months ago, off of ebay and just propped it up against the fireplace. DH decided this week to fit it to the wall, and it is too small (widthwise) ... Our's looks similar to this BUT ours is 83cm at the centre height. Now I know you can buy extension pieces, but I don't know who manufactured our, hence I don't know where to go. I have found 79cm ones (mothercare) and 80cm ones on ebay, but not the 83cm ????
Can anyone help ????0 -
nadnad I would keep him rear-facing for as long as possible - it is much safer. Basically below a certain weight a baby's neck and spine will not be strong enough in a collision and it is potentially lethal. I moved Elliot when his head was above the rear-facing car seat, and he was way over the weight limit, at almost 11 months. I'd have kept him in it if he'd fit!0

The main issue with having bubs forward facing in a car seat is that their necks are too weak to withstand a crash when forward facing when they v young.
Just because they are in the car seat doesn't mean you need to carry them in and out of the car still in the seat, when Chris got heavy I just turned the seat around and took him out of it and left the seat in car until next time.
Don't rush to have them forward facing for "selfish" reasons as it is much safer for them to be rear facing, in sweeden its law that all children under 3 are rearward facing because it is so much safer.
Ps I'm not trying to be nasty by saying selfish but can't think of a better way to put it :A0 -
no i know what your saying sami bee. But I can't seem to get him out of his car seat without taking it out of the car, i've got an isofix base so the seat wouldnt swivel round. So looks like I will have arms like arnie! I'll keep him in it as long as I can (at least 9 months), and then I think i'll get the maxicosi priorifix.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Haven't been on for a while, we moved house 2 weeks ago and that's one thing i swear i will never do again, it was worth it though.
OMG Ella, we have a cot from mothercare the same as yours which i'm going to check in the morning, not going to do it now as Adam is fast asleep and will hopefully sleep through tonight. He's been quite poorly over weekend, running a high temp, not eating and sleeping loads.
He's much perkier today and he had his Piedro boots fitted today after 3 months of waiting for them so now he can stand without his jelly ankles and will hopefully want to try a few steps.
We have to go to Pendlebury on 18th for Adam to be tested to see if he will need growth hormones, he's 1 on 15th and today he weighed 14lbs 10oz, he's got 6 teeth now and 2 more on the way.
High chairs- we bought one from argos for Jamie 5 yrs ago, it doesn't fold away but is wipe clean but we need to get one of those that attach to a dining chair as our kitchen in this house is a lot smaller, but our back garden more than makes up for it.If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BE GOOD OR BE GOOD AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had a shock!
Charlotte was running up and down the landing while I was running her bath this evening. Then she ran into Joshua's bedroom. He's got one of those high sleeper beds with a futon underneath. In seconds she went straight up the ladder and was sitting on the bed laughing at me
No harm done but I'm really going to have to watch her now.
I bought her an advent calendar and she loved opening the door this morning :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -
OMG ella, bet she gave you a fright! I think (but feel free to correct me anyone) that the max gap between bars etc is 10cm to prevent children getting their heads/bums etc stuck. When Ofsted inspected my house (i'm a childminder) they measured the gaps between my bannisters on the stairs to make sure they were less than 10cm apart otherwise I'd have had to change/modify them. So definately if when the bar is missing its more than 10cm they've not got a leg to stand on so to speak. Hope you manage to get it sorted.
Why is it children learn to do something major without you realising?! I left the stairgate open and my DS managed to climb the stairs (all of them) and be in his bedroom playing without me hearing a thing! I felt terrible and guilty for ages just thinking about what could have happened. He did the same to DH when I was out but it took him a few days to confess!!!:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

Hello caz seems weird talking to you here:D
I've heard its quite common (but don't kno where I heard it  ) Chris gets a rash around his mouth all the time mainly from citrus fruits, strawbs and toms I have to wash him asap after he eats any of them (and he is a total fruit bat ) and luckily he likes to copy mummy so doesn't mind me wiping vaseline all over his mouth:j even so he has a rash almost constantly I just can't keep on top of it0
