Welcome Lauren! Nice to meet you.
Carol - hope you can sort things out soon
Well, had to tell SIL I was pregnant today (if you remember they have been having some 'help' after trying for a yr) when I got in the car with her and she aid, "you're pregnant aren't you?" Had decided I wouldn't volunteer the info but wouldn't lie so that's that sorted then! The best thing is she's nearly a week late! But too scared to take a test in case it's negative. She's had a cpl of m/cs and the latest tests supposedly showed she didn't ovulate. Will keep evryting crossed but who knows? If she is we will be due within 1 wk of each other - don't know how MIL will cope!!MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
We had our first major messy poo incident over the weekend when out, cant believe how a small baby can produce so much poo and get it all up his back and all over his clothes! Luckily i always take spare clothes, bibs, loads of nappies and wipes etc! but he upset himself in the process of making this mess and screamed the place down-i was trying to be as quick as possible....i manage not to panick in these situations now. the messy poos usually happen first thing in the morning at home though, when i can easily chuck mucky clothes in washing machine etc!
Elliot's still not that well, but getting better slowly.

Hi all. Came back yesterday from a lovely weekend away minus LO in Lewes courtesy of my OH's funny handshake club...Even booked up and had a nice massage.... MIL came down from Yorkshire with her 3 dogs to look after him and I think its fair to say that they had a great time and dont think he missed me at all.
Spending today getting all the washing down, shopping and generally tidying up before I go back to work tomorrow....Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
hi everyone, thread has been quiet for a couple of days!
little Oz was 6 months on sunday and i have been giving him spoon feeds for a while now, he eats almost anything that i've pureed so far - every fruit and veg i can think of! and he's on 3 feeds a day. The weaning leaflet i was given says to start giving 6 month olds finger foods such as toast, pitta bread, peeled apples, banana, carrot sticks or sticks of cheese. I'm a wee bit nervous of doing this as he still seems so little! I guess if he's not interested then he's not ready for this, but I'm worried he'll take the food and choke, has anyone else given their 6 month old foods like this? and how did they get on?DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Hi Nad
Archie started on finger foods a week before he was 6 mths and never had a problem. I found anything I gave him that he couldn't manage (eg cucumber which he still doesn't eat very well) would just end up on the floor. I always stayed with him when he was eating food for the first time just in case but i can't remember him having too many problems.
These days he can eat most things but still chucks food he's not to keen on on the floor - nightmare!!MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
nadnad he might gag at first but this is different to choking - gagging looks a bit scary but it is what prevents them from choking. Maybe start with steamed broccoli or carrot sticks first of all, these will be very soft and hopefully reassure you
tsstss - isn't it tiresome - the casual abandon with which Elliot just slings food off the highchair makes me laugh, but I don't want him to think I am encouraging itit's sooo funny though... 'hmm, a bit of toast... who is she kidding <chuck>...'
Elliot has two molars coming through now  cue lots of poos, a sore bum, and no sleep for anyone...0 -
Izzy loves decorating the kitchen floor. The people who lived here before us chose white floor tiles... how I HATE them for that!!!! :rotfl:0

Hi there guys.
My little one is now 10 months. I can't believe it. It feels like 2 minutes ago I added myself onto the due date thread!!! We are trying for number 2 now - eek!! I must be mental. Xander is like a whirling dervish at the moment as he has just taken a couple of tentative steps on his own so he is into EVERYTHING.
In case it's of any help to you I have set up a website to help mothers like me. I can't find any comprehensive information out there for when the local playgroups/stay and plays are in my area - especially if they are run in small village halls and things. So I have set up a website with them all listed. Currently it's only for in my area but if other mums could use it then it has the option to go a bit wider and cover more areas. Dunno if I am allowed to tell you about it - but it's not for any profit or anything I run it out of the kindness of my heart as I was fed up of being unable to find stuff. It's at https://www.whereroundhere.co.uk and it needs mothers to help populate it using the contact form. Some of it is on sites like mums.net but not all and I am hoping to get people to help me out putting things on there.0
