Bailey: i'm wondering how on earth you do cope!
We only go to 1 group a week 9.30 - 11.30 on a monday but we've not been for about 2 months as my morning sickness was too much, we're now not going coz we've got into a bad routine of bed at 8.30 and getting up at 9.30  I really hate not having our normal routine but really can't face forcing myself to get up early as I know it would make me feell awful for about a week - which is very selfish of me, we also have a regular-ish meet up with 2 friend who's kids are same age but thats for luch and both close by and in our own homes so not too bad if I feel rough. I do worry how i'll cope with 2 when his one pops out as DS had colic for around 4 months and I had bad baby blues so i'm praying I'll find it easier 2nd ime round. My house is a tip I can't remember the last time I wore something that had been ironed and my windows are filthy :( I just hoover whenever I can and DS likes to do the washing like Alice.
every now n then I send DS for a sleepover at grandma's and we try to blitz the whole house while he's out of the way for a bit.
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Re coping - I guess you just have to re-define what's acceptable. I've never been the tidiest of people, so as long as Imogen's things get packed away before bedtime then I'm happy. I also iron the very minimum of stuff (and actively buy things which don't need ironing!). Cleaning is split between us as and when we can. I'd like to do more, but there's lots of stuff I'd like to do more of!

I'm having a hard time with morning, noon and night sickness at the moment. I had to go back to bed this am (luckily OH is nearly recovered from his bad cold which he's had for a week). I seemed to blink and 90 mins had flown by. I did at least get time to get a shower and wash my hair (which I haven't had for a day or so what with builders arriving early, Imogen demanding attention and OH needing a nursemaid). Felt a bit better for it, but I must only have had about an hour today when I haven't felt sick - and not all in one go. The only thing I can do to stave it off is to eat - which worries me cos I don't want to put loads of weight on.

Off out to a mum's night tonight so I can catch up with the girls. We haven't got together in ages, so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to Imogen starting playgroup in the New Year. She's just going for 2 hours on a Thursday afternoon and I've allocated that time as 'jobs' time. I might alternate weeks so I get 'me' time one week and do jobs the next. I'll only really have 90 mins once I've walked her there, walked home and walked down to collect her at the other end. Maybe I should sign her up for Fridays too...

  • I really would be lost without my DH and my family. DH does lots when he is at home; he bathes Poppy and has now started putting her to bed. He gets up with her over the weekend and when I come down he has put a load of washing on or other chores.

My Mum and Dad also have Poppy from 12noon to 6:30pm on a Monday and Thursday and she arrives back to me bathed and PJ'd. She is their only grandchild (until next month! :D) and as they are both retired they want and have the time to spend with her. Mum has done all her xmas shopping early so she can help me out even more over the next few weeks which I am so grateful for :A. Both my sisters and my Mum visit on a Saturday afternoon and take Poppy out shopping to give me a rest.

I do like my home to be clean and tidy so for half an hour or so I will put ITNG on for Poppy and put her in the playpen (bad mum! :o) so I can hoover. The rest can be done when she is napping (1.5h morning and 1.5h afternoon) unless we are out and about.

I know its going to be tough going when the new baby arrives, and I'm trying to prepare myself for the Big Change, but with support I'm hoping I will cope :o.

PS: Poppy waves bye to me as soon as she sees her coat...its Daddy she adores!

Sorry to hear that carol9uk - hope you are ok. We're here if you need us xx

I just somehow manage to cope with everything - dunno how!

I get up around 7am and get Charlotte up and give her a cup of milk. She goes and drinks that while I make the boys packed lunches. I make her breakfast and go and feed that to her (she's still not got the hang of the spoon!). While I'm doing that, the boys get their own breakfasts and pack their school bags. Joshua leaves at 7.50am and James plays with Charlotte while I have my breakfast and feed the dog, then I get her and me dressed. James goes to school at 8.45am and either my Mam picks Charlotte up or I drop her in on my way to work depending where my first calls are.

Work is variable as I'm self employed. Some days I'm out 9am-1pm, some days less, some days it's just work from home or I do uni work. I have lunch around 1pm, and Mam drops Charlotte off around 1.30pm on her way to work. She's usually fallen asleep in the car, so I just drop her in her cot. I get another couple of hours work or uni work in, and take the dog for a long walk.

Charlotte gets back up around 4pm. Usually the boys crashing in from school wake her up! We do a mix of playing, bits of housework and I cook tea. Sometimes the boys join in depending on their homework, mates etc.

We have tea around 6pm, and then I plonk Charlotte in front of the TV for INTG and sneak off and have a cup of coffee all by myself :o She has her bath around 7pm followed by a cup of milk and quiet play or stories, then I put her to bed around 7.30-8pm. The boys go in the bath and put themselves to bed - James goes around 8.30pm, Joshua usually stays up till 9-9.30pm.

I do more tidying up or ironing etc., then have a shower about 9pm. I put my jarmies on, and chill out for an hour or so until bedtime.

Hubby helps out by washing the dishes after tea.

Weekends are similar, but my Mam doesn't have Charlotte and I do all the laundry and housework instead of work.

It's a lot to fit into a day and I'm always knackered by bedtime. I'm really looking forward to my holidays next May, so I can have a rest.
Here I go again on my own....
