I didn't realise nits and worms were that common. We used to get letters home at Primary School if anyone had worms or nits and they weren't that frequent.
Apparently they don't do letters anymore, as it's against human rights or some other PC rubbish

Hi bumblebee87 - nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy yourself here. We're a friendly bunch :)

We get odd generic letters from school reminding to check for nits and worms, but they are not allowed to send out a letter saying "a case of nits has been found" like they used to. I got told it's in case the child with nits/worms is identified and bullied.
Here I go again on my own....
  • oooh yes they are allowed, we got one yesterday
its not even 'a case of nits in the school' anymore...its 'a case of nits IN YOUR CHILDS CLASS'

welcome bumblebee, got any poo stories? :)

lol - ignore me... ive had a weird week!
  • I work in Olivia's primary school and we had been sending letters about nits until very recently when someone realised that we weren't allowed to send them anymore. CG, I'm guessing your school hasn't realised yet...

Personally I find it ridiculous... especially when my daughter's teacher comes round to the office saying that she's got kids in her class scratching madly and can she have some letters to send home and we have to say no! Madness.

I've got something called the Bug Buster kit which I can heartily recommend since Olivia had headlice twice in Reception last year. Since the last bout I've stuck to doing a weekly comb through with conditioner and we haven't had them back since touch wood. They are a massive problem once the kids start school.

at my mum's school the teacher tends to mention to the gossip mum that nits are going round and everyone soon gets to wet combing :p

Great story btw CG! I hope you get cleaner mysteries to solve.

Right. Please can you all in an orderly fashion name a book or two that helped you understand your toddlers. We've gone past the 'first year' stage and I need help! I'm sure we do everything wrong, like laughing at naughty things, giving in to tantrums, etc. I need a good guide(s). Please please pretty please.
Another vote for Toddler Taming. It's written by a real father rather than an 'expert'. :rotfl: even if he is an 'expert' too.

TMI from Curious George, glad you didn't post the deviant stuff ...

I know I'm not bumblebee but, squirty newborn poo rather took us both by surprise! One day during a nappy change she splurted it across the kitchen! Five poos, two changes of clothing (hers and her dads), one change of shoes (her dads), three nappies, one thoroughly disinfected floor and one slightly hysterical mummy later the nappy change was done!

I must admit after reading this thread every night I wait for her to poo in the bath!

Jobs day for Celia today, hmmm, superb spelling error, jabs day unfortunately I'm not sending her out to a paper round just yet! I'll be off to get some teething powder just in case! Are they ok to use when they're just grumpy and generally fed or should they only really be used for teething grumpy?
Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!
