    Hi there,
I hope you all don't mind me joining this thread.
I am a 33 yr old SAHM to a DS called DJ (aged 15 months). He was born by c-section, was breast-fed for 13 months, and now keeps me run off my feet. He has always slept well, which was a bonus :).
I did work F/T before having him, and am now adjusting to being a SAHM after giving up a job I really enjoyed!
I love money saving- particularly old style, and am in to recycling, re-using, cooking, crafts, eating chocolate amongst other things! I try not to waste money where DS is concerned, will pay more for quality (properly fitted shoes, good toys etc) but am also quite happy to go second hand (ebay/charity etc) for things too (have got loads of clothes for him from charity). I will spend more on him when he asks for more, right now as long as he is loved, fed, watered, nappy changed and entertained he is happy!

    xx OS

croaky saturady here too LU T - just got my LO to bed and we are all suffering today.

On a good note we did the first shoes today, LO started cruising two months ago in the height of summer and I've been thinking we need a pair for when we go out in the push chair as he keeps taking his socks off which isn't so great now winter has decended upon us. (sunny today though  ) We got this pair of crawling shoes from clarks as I prefer softer shoes until he is outdoor walking.

As it was his first pair we got a natty photo and certificate to go with them for nowt too - isn't that cool!!!
My DS loves to take off his socks and shoes (even his nice Clarks ones- all three of the pairs he has had so far!), even in the rain!!! What looks I get from people thinking I am neglecting him! :o
We got his first shoes in Glasgow and got a nice wee photo then too- it was cutey pie then! Time flies and feet grow fast! His first two pairs were soft cruisers (similar to the pair in your pic with the leather bands), his ones now are half cruisers/half shoes (leather on more of the sole but still a gap in the middle) and we might go for more solid next time as he is walking a good bit now.
I have bought second hand clothes for DS but like good Clarks measured shoes for his little tootsies.

Awww - they are all lovely pictures.

Nice to meet you Orkney Star. Hope you enjoy our little chats in here :)

We've got the cold bug here now. Poor Charlotte has been wandering round with candles all day. She didn't sleep at all this afternoon, and I've heard her cry out briefly a couple of times this evening, but she's managed to settle herself before I've got to her!
Here I go again on my own....

    Hello peeps,
Just a post to say hello as I am new to this thread, I am 23yr Mummy to 20 mth old Christopher and 98% sure I'm expecting another bundle of joy but tested early and the line is very feint, Hubby currently trying to convince me that it would be better to wait a few days instead or running out for a expensive digital test but not sure I can hold on long enough!
anywho the reason I'm here is to see if anyone can recommend methods/books etc for potty/toilet training as my little Christoph is going to be using the big boys toilet as of Oct 1st (its on the calendar and everything, he's soo excited)
    cheers medears! x

Hi Sami - nice to meet you, Not to sure about that potty training lark as it is lost in the mists of time ....I think I can dimly remember demonstating what a potty is for to ds1 before he "got it" ummmmmmmm..

I have heard this book is good though

hi, i am a nursery nurse and we give the children lots of praise and stickers when they sit or do something on the potty. we also read and sing song while they are on the potty to try and make it a happy time. another thing which might work if he has a favourite teddy that could have its own potty to. when a child does a accident we just say never mind, maybe next time, as you dont want him to hold it in till he gets his nappy back on, which may happen if he is told off. you can get childrens books wher the children are learning to potty train to.

hope any on this help, good luck

    Hi and welcome :)

As well as the advice given, make sure he sees you and OH using the toilet and let him look at what you've done. I know it sounds silly and you'll feel really daft, but go to the loo with him there and then dance around all happy going "yeah clever Mammy did a wee in the toilet." Then when he does it, do the happy dance as well.

Here's a photo of Charlotte taken on what was probably the one sunny day of the summer :D
