If they are really painful I would consider contacting your local maternity unit just to get them checked out. I don't want to scare you (but can't think of a way of saying this wthout doing that) but I had really strong BH contractions the week I had Tom. I went in for a routine monitoring (as I had signs of pre-eclampsia) and ended up being rushed staight to another hospital for a caesarian as each BH was pulling the cord tight around Tom's neck and cutting off his air supply. It doesn't hurt just to get it checked, especially if it's hurting you.0 -
Weezl We just 'chucked' Chris in his cot in his own room without any preparation and he was fine so I'm sure Fergie will be too
All u need it a sheet on the mattress thats it!
We had a bumper and occasionally put a sheet over Chris as his sleeping bag was a summer one but thats all.0 -

When I was first pregnant, I was pretty sure I'd go a week over... Everyone kept telling me I was going to be early which made me think it was a possibility... Looks like I was right at first...
Sami, have you seen the all in one pyjamas in mothercare? They look so gorgeous and soft... I just can't justify the price, that's why Aimee doesn't have any... Came close at christmas but just couldn't do it...
Krystal I used to get very painful BH. I used to be walking home after dropping the school run and they would be so strong/painful I would have to stop and sometimes would be bent double!!! Hope something starts for you soon, it get tiresome waiting after your due date has passed doesn't it;)
I put my boys in proper Pj's when they were about 8/9mths...it was coming into summer then so I also had little shortie PJ sets for them:D

can I have some cot advice please?
fergie's got about 3 more inches of growth space and then will need to come out of his moses basket, I think. We've moved the cot into our room and put the basket inside it for the last week, so he might get used to the bars. All ok so far. Any tips on how else to make the transition?:D
Also, bedding for cots, I guess I'd better get some!:o What do I need- just a fitted sheet over his mattress protector? He wears a grobag thingie, so I don't know if I need owt else?
TIA

We use grobags so we just have the fitted sheets and nothing else. It does make the cot look a bit bare though but I don't see the point in buying bedding we won't use.0 -

I think they go up to age 5-6 - DD1 got some for christmas (she's 8 but little!) and they were the best thing ever, apparently! Her only complaint was that they didn't have feet in. I think they stop having feet at about age 3.
I did see some adult size all-in-ones, on ebay from america. I was quite tempted but thought the teletubbie look might not give the right impression to OH. :rotfl::beer:0 -

what's the issue with the bedroom? hope it sorts itself soon! we only got into ours 5 days before fergie, but then slept in the downstairs study with him for 2 weeks, cos I'd already trashed the futon, so I thought I'd stay where we were for a bit! So it was his birth room and his first bedroom!

Yep just a sheet on the mattress and maybe a blanket. I do put a nice warm fleecey blanket over Kai's grobag as he is in his own room and it seems to be quite cold. The other night it was only 13 degrees. Even after he has been in there for a while it sometimes only goes up to about 15/16 degrees.

thanks all! so the consensus is fitted sheet then. He's been given a few blankets...is second hand ok? i know some things shouldn't be cos of SIDS?

I am not entirely sure about this actually? I think they will be ok but will need to be washed at a temperature above 60 degrees, as it is only above this temperature all the dustmites and bugs are killed. Also if they have come from a smoking home it might be safer not to use them.
I have a question, everywhere I read says non-breastfeeding mums should have their period 6-8wks after giving birth. Kai will be 10wks on Sunday and I have absolutely no signs what-so-ever....did anybody else take this long to have their first period. I am only a teeeny bit worried because we had unprotected sex twice. Although I doubt I am pregnant, I just want to start getting back to normal.

2nd hand sheets are fine, there are some who don't like bumpers because of something to do with SIDS but I found them invaluable and protecting my kamikaze boy and also keeping his dummy from falling out of the cot!
We've been 'temporarily' in the spare room ever since I moved in almost 3yrs ago  our actual bedroom has bare floorboards (not suitable for sanding) bare walls and some missing plaster around the window and is full of random bits of furniture and DIY paraphernalia - so not much to contend with when OH has just been told overtime is back on so he's working mon-fri 7am - 5:30 and Saturdays 7am - 12noon  Great for our finances when OH will be having some pat leave but no good for us getting ready or our relationship because OH is a right grump when working that much!0
