I had my first morning off from baby today. He is 7 months. I had a hair cut and wanted a massage but decided not to as I was too tired and thought it would be a waste of money. I'll have another morning off in 2 weeks I'll go then. Cant wait!!

Just wondering if anyone knew what they generally do about babies with constipation? Spoke to NHS Direct Nurse, who says it is likely he is constipated, and to ask HV on Monday. Giving him cool boiled water in the mean time, rubbing his belly and doing 'bicycle legs'. Just wondered if there are options to treat constipation in babies, because we can't remove the reason he is constipated. He is a month old.

I second the curry idea - it works with us! What better excuse to get a takeaway in - the baby needs you to! :rotfl:

Or, cooled boiled water with a drop of fresh orange juice in. Not had to use it this time, but when DS was 4 months he went onto formula (i had to go back to work :embarasse), and was terribly constipated! It worked for him.

honey what you describe doesn't warrant any action, I would only give anything other than a touch of water if he was REALLY struggling to get them out and they were dry like rabbit poop.
top tip tho.. old-fashioned-MW said they aren't allowed to tell us this but... the best thing to make bubba poop is a tea spoon of brown sugar in 1oz boiled water

A smear of vaseline when you change his nappy will ensure the next one doesn't stick as much?

my OH is stupid, he got sent home from work earlier cos he kept being sick, why was he being sick i hear you ask?

he ate a bowl of cereal with milk from the work fridge that had gone off a fortnight ago and didnt notice cos "its the special k with berries and cos the berries are bitter i couldnt taste the milk was off"..............
even though while he was eating it his boss walked in and said he could smell sour milk  OH carried on eating it and it only clicked when he started projectile vomiting into the nearest bin!

    :rotfl:

Sami, I want photographic evidence of the elbow licking!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

    Hiya,

I've not posted on this thread before so hi! :hello:

I have a 4 month old son who is a VERY hungry boy! He has been breast fed since birth but is really struggling on breast milk alone these days. I am now feeding him every 2 hours during the day and he is moaning in between sometimes moaning for food after an hour

I was planning to speak to my health visitor or doctor this week about weaning him as he is more than interested in food and can almost sit unaided. Do people think I should do this first or just take the plunge? He is 18 weeks tommorrow and weighed 15lbs 5.5 oz 10 days ago (was 7lb 15.5 oz at birth) so nearly has doubled his birth weight! :j

    Hi moiramber - welcome:)

I personally have never asked the health visitors when I should wean my baby, I have just gone with gut instinct and taken it slowly following baby's lead....But of course it is always good to check if you have any reservations, as the health visitor will be able to give you the best advice based on your baby:D

Can whoever has switched my lovely, happy, smiley baby with this miserable grump please, please switch them back:p He is being a right whinger today nothing anyone does is settling him and he still won't feed properly:rolleyes:........So ungrateful too, seeing as though w went out yesterday and spent over £40 on toys for him:o

Also since I last posted I have been cleaning up the masses of sick produced by my poorly 8yr old:( (I hope there is no relation to Kai being a grump)

ok i have a devil child and am at breaking point with him, now the biting, temper etc i can handle but he keeps playing with his own poo??? he went down for a nap and yet again i have come back to find him stripped at the bottom half, nappy off vest open and covered in the stuff. he thinks its hilarious?? why me???

Caz - I have nothing to offer but my sympathy...I am sure it is not funny in real life but I admit to having a giggle :o

Maybe a full sleep-suit when you put him down?

Feelie - are you using infacol or anything similar? My HV advised me to use 2 droppers of infacol per feed and it seemed to ease Benjamin a little.

The breastfeeding counsellor at Booby Club said that drinking pure orange juice as you feed or express will help them to go...she said it is one of the few things that goes straight into your milk  I have yet to believe her (I drank a glass yesterday and it didn't seem to make any difference to Benjamin) but that's what she said!
