Just wondering how long you all breastfed for / plan to breastfeed for...
Starting to feel pressured by various people to give up. Even worse, went out with several people (women) from work the other night (all mothers except one) and when the conversation came round to breastfeeding all except one said they didn't do it as they thought it was disgusting / unnatural. They all know I'm feeding and it made me feel a bit c*rap.
Tom is nine months now and I was hoping to feed until about a year old.0 -
Do you any of your children attend baby ballet or action kids? I'm thinking of having DS do one or the other in the new year, and wanted to know what sort of things the kids do in them?

I fed my eldest for six months, my second I had to stop at three months because he needed medication in his milk and I couldn't express enough breastmilk, my third I stopped at nine months because I can't express and I'd gone back to work. She pretty much gave up breastfeeding because getting milk from a bottle was easier.
People are still so regimented by outdated beliefs. You're doing an amazing thing for your son, keep it up as long as you feel comfortable with it0 -
chocaholic - I think your colleagues are disgusting and unnatural
You do it as long as you feel happy for. As long as you and Tom are happy, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Becles - so sorry to hear your sad news, we recently had a death of a baby in our family its so tragic to hear of children dying.
Chocoholic - I wouldnt listen to anyone elses views you do whatever you feel is best for your little one! I fed Ruby for 5 months and she sort of gave up on her own - preferred a bottle to my and I couldnt express, I just dont think I made enough milk.
Ruby is now crawling round very quickly and I am in the process of baby proofing - fire guards, stair gates etc. I am amazed at how fast she can move and the delight on her face that she can move from room to room. Her favourite trick is to climb up anything she get her hands on - table legs, my legs I cant take my eyes of her for a minute but am loving it:p19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0 -

Hi Chocaholic
I'm still bfeeding now at nearly a year and I plan to keep on doing so until baby is happy to give up - you are not alone!! It's the most natural thing in the world and certainly nothing to feel bad about - your friends are just plain WRONG there.
Go with what you want - if it works for you and baby it's probably the right way to go in my book.

I b/f until at least a year with all of them, can't remember exactly how old as it's all so long ago. The 'last thing at night' feed was the last to go, but I would still whip it out for comfort during the day in an emergency, eg after being bitten at Mums and Tots ...
So you don't think that's just old-fashioned, a colleague recently carried on until 'baby' was either nearly or gone 2. She was pretty shattered though ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
