Ooh, it's nearly midnight. Can I say it yet? You know, while I'm here, in case I don't make it in tomorrow? Oh, three mins isn't going to make a difference, so...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLIOT!!! :kisses3: :bdaycake:

Be nice to Mummy! And Daddy and any grannies and cats that you may encounter. Have a great day.

Oh bless you for remembering! :kisses3: and thanks Lu :D I can't believe my baby is a year old... OTOH I've aged about five years since he was born, so you know, time he caught up

We're having a quiet day really, soft play (hell) this morning and a little tea party with the grandparents later on, the reward for all of this being masses and masses of cake :D We've bought him a swing for the garden, but only half of it has arrived, bloody ELC  oh well I'm sure he'll have plenty to keep himself busy with!

Agutka how many teeth has little J got now? Elliot's been moody lately too and dribbling like nobody's business - he has 7 at the front, 8th is coming through, but we are wondering if it might be a molar ready to come through as he's been so unhappy with it at times :( poor little mites :grouphug: and poor us, of course! Here's to year 2....

    Morning all

Happy birthday Elliot! Feels really weird as today was my due date for Henry and my sisters birthday.

Ooh quick question while I'm here. When and how did you start introducing cows milk and do you still give formula as well? I dropped Henry at nursery this morning and one of the girls asked whether I had thought about trying him on it (obviously easier as well for them when he has his weetabix).

    All help appreciated.x

We ran out of formula at 11 months and 3 weeks so went straight onto cows milk, didn't do it gradually, just made an immediate switch. She didn't notice - didn't even pull a face!

    Happy Birthday Elliot.

I used cows milk on cereal from about 7 or so months with no problems and gave cows milk as a drink from 12 months. Just gave it to him in a sippy cup to see how he managed with it, no problem at all. Then dropped his warm formula at night and gave warm cows milk instead. He now drinks and has on breakfast about 1-1/2 pints a day.

  • Hey all, thanks to all that wished me luck in my interview. I think it went well, I did as well as I could do at a group interview, just gotta wait and see what they say and if theyve got the right hours for me. Felt a bit pants about the whole thing yesterday tho as the people Id been relying on to have DS for me now keep making comments such as 'yeh Ill have him when I can.. if Im not busy..' etc which is different to the 'Yeh you go back out to work, you know Ill have DS for you!!' Grr. I cant take a job if Im constantly going to be stressing finding someone to have him for me, what about school hols? So, as well as finding out about the after school club when he goes back next week, I think Im going to look into some local childminders today..

    Happy Birthday to Elliot!! :)

Mazcabs, I changed DS onto cows milk around his 1st birthday. He still had a bottle of 'follow on' formula at bedtimes.

    Hope everyones well! x

Do you give it to him just as normal drink as well, HF has water alot of the time or watered down juice. I've never given him follow on milk, he is still on the purple Aptamil and to be honest he doesnt have that much of it - this is his normal pattern (generally same as nursery)

    6.30am Bottle 7 ozs, 8.30am Weetabix with formula 4ozs, 2.30pm Bottle ( not all 7ozs), 8pm bottle before bed 7ozs

Rhys has cows milk in the morning before breakfast, which is usually, cereal or porridge with cows milk, he sometimes has toast (he has a feed from me as soon as he gets up). Water for the rest of the day, with the occasional sip of juice/squash from us. A cup of cows milk before bed.

He's 14 montsh old and has had this routine since he was 12 months. (seems longer than that looking back.
  • :j Happy Birthday Elliot!!! :j

Maz, I still give Poppy formula - in fact she hasn't had cows milk yet. She only has 8oz when she wakes up, 3oz with her porridge and 8oz at bedtime. We're still on Cow & Gate Stage 1! I still have about 4 boxes left so will gradually swap over.

Alice is breastfed so for drinks obviously I don't use cow's milk but for any cooking, I've always just used cow's milk (although admittedly she wasn't really eating anything of any significance until 10 months so obviously wasn't large quantities).

Joseph's had cows milk in cooking/cereal since 7 months. But formula to drink - one or two bottles a day. I tried giving him cow milk just yesterday, but he either thought it was disgusting, or didn't like milk in a cup rather than bottle or it was his mysterious illness affecting him. I'm thinking of still giving him formula to drink though... all those lovely fake vitamins and minerals - I am rather paranoid his diet might not be good enough to provide properly.

Daphne - He only has the four teeth still. Two up two down, lol. Only the molars would explain the pain he seemed to be in - past tense, like a new person this morning , though not very smiley. Still seeing the doctor though, just in case.
Joseph got a tricycle from grandparents. It's really big and I have felt like a bit of a *** driving it around, but he seems to like it. Easier than letting him walk :rotfl:.
Ooh, gotta go, the siren has activated... and there is a whiff in the air... ahh, parenthood...
