Emm - if you can't get baby off to sleep have you tried going for a drive in the car? I've had to resort to that a few evenings, and it does the trick for us. Not very MSE mind you, although I go round the country lanes so I can go at a more economical speed than if I was going up and down the motorway. I wouldn't want to get into the habit of it, but for once in a while when we are desparate it is good. (I would only do it if I wasn't too nackered though - would be paranoid of dropping off in the car if it was 3am!)
We've been off to visit great grandad today. We went out to a pub lunch and were very surprised when a lady came to sit in the pub garden with a goat on a lead. He was called Freddie and was very well trained, and knew he was allowed to eat the grass, but not the boarder plants. Izzy was fascinated, she's not seen a goat before:rotfl:.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Oh Bruno - poor little boy. (and poor worried parents too!) Sounds like you've done the right thing giving him paracetamol. Might be worth calling NHS direct if you are concerned? I remember that you are meant to take clothes off if baby has a fever, but it's not something we've been through here yet.

Bruno - hope Elijah feels better soon. Keep us updated.
We've had two mad dashes upstairs so far tonight. Imogen was doing her usual banging about when she should have been sleeping when there was a massive bang, bit of a whimper and then nothing. I haven't run for a while (given I'm 31wks pregnant) but I got up the stairs faster than DH did to find her laid on the floor just about to scream. So the silence was her taking in a massive breath ready to let rip.
She'd been climbing on her chair, fallen off sideways and banged her head on a sticky-out bit on her new wardrobe. Lovely dent in her temple so we've given her some calpol and put some frozen peas on it for a short while.
Not 30 mins later and another bang but this time accompanied by screaming. This time she'd been stood on her bed leaning over her chest of drawers to reach her Mr Men books and slipped off the bed sideways. DH made it first this time, but she was still insistant she wanted to read her book to Upsy Daisy!
Honestly, I was only joking with my mum this weekend that I'm going to try not to have another head injury this year (at least, not one requiring an ambulance) to get the average back down - one a year so far.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
They're little devils aren't they lu, we had one of those big bangs followed by silence and a big scream the other night... Aimee had fallen off the ladder of her mid-sleeper an landed face forward on her rocking horse... Bruised up both her shins lovely and a big bruise on one hip...
Hope Elijah feels better soon, I usually use both calpol and callrofen for Aimee, and stripping him down to vest is a good tip. Skin to skin contact can be good for regulating temperature too...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Thanks both, good tips. He's woken a couple of times but for now he's gone back down, going to catch some sleep myself so I can spell OH in the middle of the night as needed.0

This might be old news, but I've just found out you can double up tesco clubcard point vouchers if you are spending them on baby stuff - you just have to take your vouchers into customer services and swap them for baby ones. It covers everything except formula milk, so clothes, food, nappies etc, so worth doing if you collect the points. (They do them for other departments too!)
I have £12.50 of vouchers that came in the post today, so that is enough for a good few months of nappies and nappy wrapper refills if i double it upEspecially if I wait for them to be on sale again.
(Or you can get a subscription to Mother and baby magazine for £8 worth of vouchers I've now discovered! That'll do me)

Poor Imogen, I hope her injuries aren't too bad!
Bruno - I hope Elijah gets better quickly. Just make sure he is getting some fluids into him, I'm sure you are anyway!... I second the paracetamol and ibuprofen together. Ibuprofen actually works more effectively to lower temperatures than paracetamol.
Well I ordered my buggy today and it is due to be delivered tomorrow, you can't fault Kiddicare for service:D If it comes in the morning I will be able to use it to take Kai down to the docs for his 8wk check and jabs....He has been a bit grumpy today, no smiles and hasn't really settled most of the day - he even cried! Which might sound odd seeing as he is a baby and that would be expected of him, but he just isn't a crier at all.
Maybe he will wake up on the right side of his cot tomorrow;)

Hmmm - I wonder if it is the turn in the weather that is making all these babies grumpy? There certainly seems to be something in the air...
One of my huggies nappies has some hard, glue-like bits inside. Is it worth the effort of sending it back with a complaint or should I just bin it?please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
