I've just popped on to say my Nan sadly passed away yesterday afternoon, after the whole family went to see her (various members had fallen out over the years, including me and my brother-and we all made up realising life is too short).

I doubt I'll be coming on for a while, I have closed my facebook account as well. My mom needs me and I need to concentrate on Elliot and my marriage anyway.

So all the best to everyone, take care.

    Keely. x

So sorry to hear that Keely. Don't close your account - we're still here if you need us. Take care xx

Birthday party is cancelled tomorrow :( Both Charlotte and me are poorly. We've got a heavy cold and flu like symptoms - feverish, aches all over and a nasty cough. When Charlotte went for her afternoon nap after lunch, I said I was going for a quick nap and ended up sleeping for three hours :o Hubby said I'm not allowed to stand and bake tomorrow and then entertain relatives, so he rang everyone and told them to come next weekend instead. His grandparents are both in their 80's and quite frail and I was scared of passing germs onto them, so I'll stop worrying about that now.
Here I go again on my own....

Sami - jazzy cardi???? How old are you? You sound like my mum :rotfl:
:rotfl:I spent about 5 whole minutes trying to think of a 'cool' way to put it but came up with nothing:confused::p
    I don't dress like a granny - honest! :D

spot of advice/opinion required if you will..
in the last week or so Chris has started to really emphasise that he owns stuff like saying "x is mine" "x is Christopher's" "no mummy its mine" even at one point saying "I don't share"
Anyone know if its a common phase? I've not heard of anyone else's toddler doing this and I'm a bit worried that he picked up on me saying soon he'll have to share mummy and daddy with baby :undecided I only said it once but I'm worried that he's managed to focus on it:o
Also he has started trying to shut us out and getting really distressed about it like today he spent the day and my parents and when we arrived he opened the door and sounded really excited shouting mummy and daddy but as soon as we went to step through the door he shouted No stay there but obviously we did go through the door and he burst into tears and wouldn't come near either of us for about 10 mins  he did the same thing on thurdsay when Hubby came home from being away for 3 nights. I'm wondering if its his way of sort of punishing us for being away from him

Any ladies got any recommendations for feeding PJs? do you recomend just wearing those feeding vests? I was freezing when feeding Chris at night but he was a Jan baby so I'm assuming it will be warmer in June :undecided
When I was feeding Alice in the night I just used to put a cardgain on as I went through. (This was May/June.)

My mum always says that she would never want a genius child, she says 'normal' kids are much better because they get treated normal and teachers love a nice normal child :p
As school is mass education, it's aimed at the average so if you're on either extreme you're at a disadvantage. Home education gets round that though.
    Sami_Bee wrote: »
I have to agree with her on that one I even think I'd prefer a child that was a bit slow over a genius :ofor me common sense and having an interest in something is much more worthwhile in the long term and would lead to a happier life in the end
I agree - although academic ability is important to an extent I think there is too much emphasis on it at the expense of other things. I also hate the way that they try to turn everything into a degree as if vocations don't have any value unless they require a degree.

Had my 6wk check at docs though, which went fine. She asked if I have had a period yet?? It's a bit soon for that don't you think?
My doctor asked me that at my eight week check. When I said no the doctor looked very suprised and then said, "Oh are you breastfeeding?" as if it was something really unusual.

We managed 9 hours sleep last night (or at least 9 hours before she was talking to herself so loudly she woke me up... I have a feeling she had been awake for a bit)... unfortunately I didn't manage to get her back to bed afterwards, as by the time she had finished eating it was 6am and light outside. Hopefuly DH will put up the blackout blind on Tuesday and solve that one.

I'm hoping this is another step towards sleeping through, rather than a one off after all the excitement this weekend. ~crosses fingers~

sounds like lots of (((hugs))) needed all round - big ones to keely, mel and sami.

mel, babies are really boring unless they're yours or you've had them or you're broody, i spent the weekend mostly with friends aged 20-30 who took pretty much no notice of seth so i wouldnt expect younger children to if i'm honest. in fact my baby is the only one i've ever taken any notice of other than to say "how cute" and beggar off! :rotfl: my auntie had my youngest cousin when her girl and boy were 7 and 6 respectively, the boy took no notice and the girl was besotted! 10 years on the boy adores his little brother, because they can bond over things like xbox games etc  i guess what i'm trying to say is all kids are different, they will take time to bond. they dont feed/change/clothe him and they didnt carry him round for 9 months, to them he's probably just a small human they can only look at and who takes up all mums time, very uninteresting, and when he gets a bit more exciting to them they will grow to love him :) but for now they cant really bond with him as he cant stimulate him IYSWIM?

today i'm going to shop for a nice outfit for seth to wear next weekend, he has been invited to my friends sons first birthday party, although what he will do i'm not sure!! i suppose i'd better attempt to find something for me as well  i'm so stuck in a rut with clothes, i'm fat, i'm a weird shape, nothing fits properly and nothing looks nice either  its so annoying, i used to be a clothes shopping expert. i need gok!!

If you've not been over to preg thread recently - Ickle has had her babies. 2 boys, 6lb and 6lb 1oz on Saturday. :T:T:T

  • Fantastic news 3! Thanks for letting us know - I simply can't keep up over there any more. Will pop over and pass on my congrats though (although with 2 I can't see when she will be able to check out all the messages!)

Any ideas for constipation other than cooled boiled water (which we have tried both yesterday and this morning) Benjamin has now not poo'd since 8.30pm on Friday - he usually does at least 1 a day, quite often 3 or 4.

He feels really solid - like he has put on a stone! My imagination is running wild!!

Emlou - prepare for a bit of a shock if you haven't been shopping for a while, it would appear the 80's have arrived. When we went out on Saturday night we thought we had walked onto the set of Ashes to Ashes :rotfl: although having said that it was Wolverhampton :rotfl:

MFD, it's not uncommon for a breastfed baby to go a few days between feeds... Maybe as long as a week (Aimee's record was 9 days!) at his age it's probably best not to introduce anything other than breastmilk or water into his diet... (Although if you're really worried your health visitor might be able to recommend something...)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I will persevere. He has got his 8 week check on Wednesday so I will speak to the doc and hv then.
