Beccles - sounds like you have a fledgeling MSEer there :)

Susan, unfortuately work is going to have to happen - our bills plus food and petrol come to about £1800 a month and DH only earns about £1100 a month after tax. We already have economised on lots of things, so any further would mean cutting back on green flag cover, internet or mobiles (which are all almost essential these days, and would only save us about £60 a month anyway!)

It'll be fine when we get used to it, but it will take a lot of adjusting for us both. I'm going back part time now, but I need to find a full time job closer to home for a little while so we can afford to move - that will only be temporary though, and I'm hoping I can find somewhere with flexible working, or the ability to work from home for some of the time. At the moment I might just have to take what I can find though!

My poor wee girl has the cold. She is feeding ok though and hasn't got a temperature so I'm trying not to panic unduely - it's hard though isn't it!!! She's slept for agggggges this lunchtime and I would normal wake her up but as she's ill I'm just letting her sleep as long as she wants. I think I'll just go and check on her again though......

    Happy Birthday charlotte !!

I missed out on the poo debate but have to report that LO still only does max one (very nasty and squelchy) poo a day but when newborn we could easily wait a week inbetween. When they happened you knew about it though .

she's fine - is there anything I can do in the middle of the night to help her when she's so bunged up????

And another neurotic mother question - should I be concerned about her sleeping so long? She is breathing and is warm, but not feverish. Can't get the health visitor on the phone.....I promised I wouldn't be neurotic!

r.mac - you can use a vapour plug if she's 3mths (I think just check the box) I found the cheapest to be the sudafed one - check the 'children's' and 'adult' ones as they are all exactly the same thing but the children's ones tend to cost more
you can also tip her up a bit if she's in a cot or moses basket etc just stick a catalogue or something under the legs at the head end.
I personally wouldn't worry about her sleeping, even now when Chris is ill he can sleep for anything up to 20hrs in one day (I like those days :D)
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Maybe snufflebabe, for her it's like vicks but for babies. I'm pretty sure it is from 3mths which she will be tomorrow, right?? Or you could get some saline drops from the chemist, they are suitable from birth and you dropper them into the nose:)
On the sleeping, I think if they are ill sleep is the best thing for them, just keep checking on her if her breathing becomes strained or rasping, or she becomes too warm...then get her to the docs, or if it continues for a couple of days.

Oooops, just realised...I hope I haven't given out 'medical advice' here?? Best add, that if in any doubt at all, it is always best to get them seen by the docs for your peace of mind:)
