right...i hate feet so im attempting to change the subject here :)
(plus i really do need some advise)

Danny keeps putting food in his ears and its driving me to distraction,
im on the verge of taking him to the docs anyway cos he always seems to have his fingers in his ears (i thought it might just be a little phase, if you ask him where they are he grabs them, so i thought it might be from that) but its getting ridiculous.... if he keeps doing it he will eventually get one hell of an infection and nobody wants that,

DD never cared about her ears / nose or shoving anything in them but this little monster needs to be watched 24 / 7

CG - I have no advice but do you have those 'safety buds' for cleaning his ears, I love 'em

but im the first one digging around in my own with cotton buds!

Chris gets grumpy if his ears are mucky, he starts flicking them like a dog :p
I use the safety buds for bogey catching too - you can't beat a good session of bogey wrangling :rotfl:

can someone please give me some advice cos i'm at my wits end!! seth is 6 weeks old and up til now has been feeding and sleeping really well, but the day before yesterday he decided that instead of the 150ml bottles he's been drinking every 3-4 hours which took him about 15-20 mins, which is bang on for his age, he would much rather have 60ml every hour and a half to two hours! its taking me at least 30-45 mins to get that tiny amount down him cos he keeps falling asleep, then obviously he's hungry cos he's barely had anything and doesnt sleep properly cos he's hungry.............. if by some miracle he doesnt fall asleep he pushes the bottle out of his mouth with his tongue and screams and kicks when i try to put it back in and make him have more! i need to break this cycle but i have no idea how, i'm exhausted i'm just not getting any sleep, and on a practical level i darent go out cos he will be hungry before i can do anything! he's got slow flow teats, i've tried medium but he just dribbles everywhere so it seemed pointless, and i've also tried winding him to wake him up but he just drifts off again as soon as i'm done! help!! please! someone? anyone?!

Sounds to me EXACTLY what Kai has been doing for the last two days...I guessed it was constipation/upset belly and gave him boiled water earlier today, well about half an hour ago he exploded and now seems a lot better I will be willing to put money on him gulping his bottle at 8pm (like normal) - Oh he also had a foamy mouth.....

To be honest he did a similar thing at about 6wks too, so I had an inkling of what the problem might be.

could this be the problem with Seth too????

    Mel x

Edit - Just wanted to add, after reading the advice you were being given about teats....I'm not sure what bottles/teats you use, but by far the best I have found are the variable flow ones, they have a cross which means baby decides how fast they want the milk to come out, rather than either having to suck so hard they fall asleep or the milk coming out so fast they are choking!!!!
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

Alice is never bothered by her ears but she is by her nose. She seems to have hayfever so now she says, "Notty, notty," breathes loudly through her nose a few times and then says, "Men" (which means medicine).

    :rotfl::rotfl:PML!

We did sing & sign from 6 months. Only one 'course, of about 12 weeks but Imogen picked up plenty of signs. She was starting to use words consistently by 10 months, so the signs soon went, but I'm sure they didn't do any harm as you always say the word with the sign.

CG - no advice on the food/ear front, sorry.

Re swimming - Imogen has never worn armbands but we do buy her a cheap inflatable ring whenever we're abroad and then donate it to someone the day we leave. I'm hoping to get her some swimming lessons soon. We started when she was about 6 months, but her eczema flared up so we stopped. She's quite content in the water though, happy to be ducked under. However, this does lead to a mis-placed sense of confidence which resulted in her saying, "I can do it on my OWN mummy!" when we were in the deep end of the local pool  It shelves gently from the shallow end and she just kept on walking until she was up to her chin, shrugging me off all the way. I'm please though cos DH isn't great with water and had some adult swimming lessons when I first met him - claimed not to be able to swim a length!

Right, Eastenders and scrambled eggs time...

Lu, one way of protecting irritated skin for swimming is to put a load of vaseline on just beforehand.
