can someone please give me some advice cos i'm at my wits end!! seth is 6 weeks old and up til now has been feeding and sleeping really well...[SNIP]
...help!! please! someone? anyone?!
emlou - first of all ((HUGS)) - I haven't been through this exactly but when Benjamin gets a bit clingy and wants to feed all the time or sleep all the time I just try and adjust to what he wants. By that I mean I just give up on everything else for however long it takes and just meet his needs for that period of time. So I don't go out, or cook, or clean...just look after Benjamin like I did at the beginning and stuff the rest of the world.
He is still very small and whilst it feels like you have had him forever he is still just a tiny baby who is struggling to grow and thrive in this strange world.
This may not be the most helpful thing to say but just go with it as best you can. A few weeks ago Benjamin was waking every 2 hours (2 1/2 hours max) to feed (he was going for 5 or 6 when he was a 2 weeks old!!) but now he is back up to 5 hours + in the night.
Rest assured - it will pass!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I'd say that would work
on the keeping bubba awake the MW told me to flick Chriswe used to flick his feet or ear to keep him awake to feed (I'm so cruel)
LOL - we just have to sniff to wake Benjamin!! It must be something about the pitch of a sniff that makes him alert!
He is actually in his cot now with the TV on (I am listening to it on the monitor next to me!!) because he sleeps better with a bit of background noise!! I don't think Sami sounds crazy! My little sister worked at our local pool last summer - and hasn't been swimming to public baths since. She was on reception and couldn't believe the amount of scummy, smelly families coming for their weekly wash!
It didn't help that our local council offered free swimming sessions for under 18's - so the scum of the earth could afford to go! (I don't think we have it always free - just in the school hols).
Signing- Do the baby signing groups use makaton?, or a different signing language? We use bits of makaton with SN DS - but he'll only use it if he's really desperate for something.
My friends have stopped taking there little ones because they got ear/eye infections pretty much every visit _pale_
There are at least 3 different baby sign languages used
Tiny Talk use one based around BSL I think
the one I went to was based on Signing for the Deaf (The one that deaf people actually use)
and Makaton specific ones0 -
Thanks SAMI - i'll have a search and hopefully find a localish Makaton one - it'd be handy for me to learn some more, as well as for the baby.
Most of the ones we know revolve around eating/drinking/food - as thats the thing that interests DS most. :rotfl::beer:0 -

The only time I've seen it is with my nephews wheelchair, but that is a bit different.... I can't imagine taking the buggy through, that's just madness!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

thank you everyone, i'm going to try all of the above!! i've got him wedged on his side snuggled in to my belly at the moment with a blankie draped over his eyes a bit in an effort to keep him asleep as long as possible so hopefully he will be hungry enough for a proper feed when he wakes, if not then he will be bombarded with flickings, strippings and wet wipings! i've needed a wee for over an hour now but i am not moving for love nor money!
on the swimming pool thing... i have a phobia of the combination of wet floors and bits on my feetif i have a shower and my feet are a bit wet still i cant go in the kitchen cos if theres crumbs on the floor and they got on my feet i'd probably cry/puke, last time i went swimming i looked at my feet while drying them and they were covered in bits and a hair  and now i just cant bring myself to go! if OH wants to take seth then thats fine but i definitely will not i'm afraid!

do you have sky/V plus? you could record Something Special using the series link thingy as that is all Makaton or try getting the DVDs cheap off ebay (I don't at all have illegal copies of these from my Mum's school's original copies )
