LOL - Charlotte says pease too :D
I think it's to do with the l being hard to pronounce in some words. Alice says "Ayice" (which sounds a bit like ice) for her name and Ann and Shart for Alison and Charlotte but she can say Lucy, Lola and Charlie.

I'm sorry, I just find it unacceptable that in this country it's ok for people to bring buggies right next to the water - I've always been able to carry my babies into the pool, so why can't everyone? I don't want to swim in dog poo that's come off the wheels of someone's buggy, chlorine or no chlorine!!!
I find the concept of taking a pushchair onto the poolside bizarre. (Although to be fair I never used one anyway.) If someone can't carry their child from the changing room then I wouldn't consider them capable of looking after them in the water.

When we go swimming we always go first thing in the morning before it's got all dirty. We pick the cubicles at the far end because most people just use the first ones and usually even when we get out you can tell nobody else has used them. I used to swim a lot as a child (I was in a club) and I always hated dirty changing room floors.

on the swimming pool thing... i have a phobia of the combination of wet floors and bits on my feet :o if i have a shower and my feet are a bit wet still i cant go in the kitchen cos if theres crumbs on the floor and they got on my feet i'd probably cry/puke, last time i went swimming i looked at my feet while drying them and they were covered in bits and a hair  and now i just cant bring myself to go! if OH wants to take seth then thats fine but i definitely will not i'm afraid!
I never go barefoot in the kitchen because I hate standing in bits or in puddles on the floor. (I don't splash the floor but OH can't use water without getting it on the floor.)

I did the odd makaton sign I happened to know with Alice from when she was little and eventually gave up as she found other ways to indicate the the things I was doing the signs for but more recently I've been teaching her the letters (I presume BSL but I don't know as it was a class I did when I was little) by doing them while singing this song:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK9VPtz3EHQ&feature=channel_page
and she's started to pick them up.

as a slummy mummy I just wear my slippers :rotfl:

Em - you sound just like me!! When I was little my mum always made us wear flip flops to avoid verrucas and would put a towel down for us to stand on when getting dressed in the baths (I'm guessing this is where my phobia comes from!) I have hotel freebie slippers in the bathroom so I step out on to a bath mat then feet straight into my slippers and promptly dried and talc-ed ;) my house is always covered in a layer of talc coz I cover myself in the stuff, being damp/soggy is wrong :p (My name is Sami Bee and I'm a complete nutter!)

emlou, we would blow (gently) on Celia's face or tickle her feet to remind her to eat instead of immediately fall asleep! Six weeks is prime growth spurt time so the craziness will pass :-)

Signing: We've just started baby signing lessons, Celia is besotted with the puppet the teacher uses! This website is a very good source of resources for BSL and Makaton. The owner is really lovely as well :-)

Emlou, I'd persevere with the medium flow teats if I was you, Millie was on medium flow at 3 weeks and was smaller than Seth, the slow flow ones are really hard work for them and he might be getting too tired sucking before he is satisfied.

Pushchairs by the pool is weird

Weezl-I had a conversation with a lady from sing and sign about this and she said no point really taking them before 6 ish months, they need to be able to sit up for the length of the class and they won't really take it in before that age. Around 6 months seems to be the earliest they are likely to 'join in'

OK, our local pool is wierd... There's nowhere else to leave the pushchair than the edge of the pool.... If everybody left their buggy in the changing room there'd be nowhere to move in there... And another pool in the town is completely open plan with chalet type changing areas along the edge of the pool...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

emlou - try undressing your LO when he starts to fall asleep to keep him awake. It might help you.

baby signing - we have just started a baby sensory class. it has some signing in it along with some singing, tickle time, tummy time, playing with musical instruments (noisey time!) and toys for babies to 'play' with while the mummies socialise for a little while. My LO loved it and I have to say I was impressed. Not a cheap class at £7.50 a go - but as we only do one class I don't mind too much.
