Krystal - I love you for giving me your honest opinion. I know you well enough to know you won't judge me for my choices....although you might if you knew I was keeping Benjamin on an empty breast whilst I read through all the responses and repliedit's just so much easier when my right hand is free :rotfl:
For anyone who read the article and made any sense out of it - you are a better woman with less baby brain than me!!
Personally, I will make the necessary choices every day to ensure the happiness and sanity of my whole family. I left my guilt at the door of the delivery suite. Those choices are most likely to include the odd bottle of formula now that I know that I CAN do it...which was the stoopid question that I was asking
Caz - I pm'd feelie with the same advice about lying down.
I hope that I haven't upset anyone.

Good news from midwife! The 24 hours of 'force-feeding' him worked and we don't have to go in to hospital! Jaundice is getting better.
This was a suprise pregnancy and I don't have a date of last period, so EDD was done purely by scan. Midwife said she wouldn't be suprised if it were wrong, she things he is earlier than thought. Wish I knew for certain!
Going to nip to boots for an electric pump shortly. First time outside, scary!
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. Me and the naked baby are going to lie in bed in front of the window.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

and I won't judge you for that if you don't judge me for all the hours I lay on the sofa watching TV while Aimee used me as a dummy
I have a slightly more user friendly article here (From the magazine the ecologist)... For those that feel they might be offended... Don't click the link...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

hmm I beginning to wonder if Aptamil secretly has some kind of tranquiliser in it :rotfl:
I would like to add that I have never been made to feel bad for switching to formula by anyone other than myself and for than I need to be slapped on the wrist

offended? i take it you mean me? no im not offended, but i am getting a bit annoyed...
im sorry but i only read the first paragraph, i had to close the window before i put my foot through the screen...
you call that user friendly? telling people that thier baby is twice as likely to die? 8 times likely to get cancer all because of the mothers selfish choice to give formula? thats disgusting.
Im really trying not to have a pop at you Krystal but a lot of the girls in this thread hold you in high regard as an 'expert' in this field, and rightly or wrongly that puts you in a position of responsibility,
producing scaremongering articles like this will frighten the life out of some people who respect your opinion.... the same people who may not be able to breastfeed even if they wanted too and now they are left thinking they are doing irreversible harm to thier child because of it.
just so your totally clear, im not a formula fanatic who never tried.... i breastfed both of my kids for as long as i possibly could, almost 3 months with DD before it got too much and i was crying with dread before every feed, i gave it up, swopped to aptamil and life improved dramatically,
and only a week with DS, as he was admitted to hospital, they needed to see every ounce he was taking and the expressing became ridiculous,
and should we have a third (quiet september! lol) i will be feeding baby myself for as long as i can....
im far from against breastfeeding, i love the idea of it, its all very natural and motherly...but its also not something everyone can do and those that cant or dont should not be made to feel like thay have done something wrong
sorry everyone but little groups of people thinking they have the right to bully new mothers into feeling guilty about ANYTHING really get my blood boiling0
