Aww poor her and poor baby!!
My dad (53) had pneumonia at Christmas and he was in hosp for 3 weeks (his spread to the other lung within days of being admitted so slightly longer than a single pneumonia) took over 4 weeks of resting at home before he was remotely normal and he went from being borderline underweight to being most definitely underweighthe looked like those pictures you see of prisoners of war all skin n bone:eek: he also got a DVT from being on bed rest for so long so is still on medication for that (not sure if DVTs are hereditary but his dad has had one too)
OMG didnt realise it could be so bad, her partner has written on Facebook that its Double Pneumonia so could be a long recovery for her. I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
Big hugsies to ella and bailey.
HELP! I was so worried last night, that he may have some sort of mental problem . Joseph is an angry little man. He can be lovely, he can have normal expected tantrums, but he also has an extremely short temper, hopefully he will grow out of this. But last night at about 4am he was crying as usual (need to sort out this problem, he cries, I go in, find his dummy, plug and sleep), but he already had a dummy and would not be consoled. He was having a tantrum. I tried leaving him, cuddling him, putting him down, standing him up, distracting with anything, singing, but everything was met with screams and kicking and hitting and headbutts and throwing objects. Eventually I just left him in the cot and sat beside him waiting for him to calm down. Even when he did he stayed awake and staring for ages. It must have taken an hour and I was seriously doubting the normality of the situation. Please someone tell me they've experienced this before...
he probably had a bad dream - Archie had a 20 min strop yesterday for no reason other than the fact I left him to cry for a min over the kitchen stairgate while I made his tea...and then wouldn't eat ANY of his tea..:rotfl:.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Talking about the sleep thing.......Natasha has been a really good sleeper since being tiny and has slept more or less everynight through since 8 weeks. I have no idea how it happened as i never did anything apart from doing what she wanted; if she wanted a hug, i gave her a hug etc
I was also double lucky the first 6 months as she would have naps from being awake but its a different story now and i find myself pounding the pavements with the pushchair just to get her to nap even though she goes straight down on a night. I love my gorgeous little girl0 -

My dad is normally very strong rarely gets ill type but it really did knock him back, he got really upset the other week because he couldn't lift the dog's kennel by himself something he would usually do often to get it cleaned properly so he's still not up to full strength but it takes time, he has always been nothing but bones and muscle so his weight loss affected him more than someone who is more generously padded IYSWIM
I hope she recovers quickly tho, and her OH is coping with looking after a baby by himself (If it were me in hosp I'd be soo stressed about leaving my OH to look after Chris by himself:p)
I've just had a chuckle, Chris attempted to say Satsuma but was having trouble so I broke it down to sat-sooo-ma but he still couldn't do it so he did a sort of 'sod it' wafty hand action and said "little orange!":D0 -
Oz went through the constant waking stage at about 6 months - drove us crazy, we tried every recomendation under the sun - soothing him and putting him down, letting him cry etc etc it lasted for about a month and then he just stopped it himself . Just after that we kept our same bedtime routine - bath feed sleep - but all of a sudden sometimes he wasnt feeding himself to sleep but was sleepy and content and happy and didnt mind being put down awake.
I think a big part of it was getting him used to the sleepytime routine - and then he knew what was happening and didnt feel abandoned when we put him down.
He's coming along great these days - he's still up some nights, but he has slept through 12 hours a couple of times, and other times he wakes at about 10pm and then sleeps through. Which is all great - and none of it forced by us.
Lwcus - does your little one sleep well during the day? becuase up until 6 months Oz never did, and then I changed his daytime routine (not a routine really) but i started a morning sleepytime routine and he started sleeping for a couple of hours at a time - and once he was doing this his nights became better. And recently he's been having an hour in the afternoon as well and this has coincided with even better nights - i'm a firm believer of "the more a baby sleeps the more a baby sleeps!".
His pattern changes all the time. This week he has been sleeping 45 mins in the morning followed by a 2hr sleep over lunch and another 45 min nap in the afternoon. We put him down at say 7:30ish but he wakes up as he thinks its just a nap.So we try and resettle him a few times. He'll then wake up at 11:00 ish and can be anything between every 40 mins and 2 hrs then for the rest of the night. He has done one night of sleeping til 4am. I've never let him cry, I wouldn't but its getting beyond now as I'm having less support from DH as his mum is ill and he's under so much stress at work (risk of redundency).
Just hope he starts sleeping better soon (even every 2hrs would be fine with me!!) as I'm like a zombie!!0 -
Could she not have the baby in hospital with her? I know when I went to have my tonsils out I mentioned I was still breastfeeding to one of the nurses and they made a real fuss, asking me why the baby wasn't there with me... Until I mentioned she was over 2...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Slightly changing the subject to milk;
Im wanting Natasha to give herself her milk as I feel she is getting too big for me to do it. I have tried to encourage her to hold the bottle herself, even adding handles but she wants to feed it to me and if I keep passing it back saying 'Tasha do it' she gets into a strop and throws it. I also tried putting it into her normal drinking cups but she just looked at me as though i was crazy and started crying.
Would it be worth buying some special 'milk' cups so its different to her normal cups and making a big fuss of her, im not really a fan of the no spill cups and dont really want her having one after she has had free flow since 5 months but will give them a go if they are closer to a teat for her.
I know she can easily do it herself as she has given herself water from the start and doesnt want any help so I think its more that she likes being given her milk?
Opinions please, I dont want a 3 year old with a baby bottle! I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
Oh, she is 14 months old...... I love my gorgeous little girl0

No you didnt Sami, just I didnt realise i could be so bad. The baby is with her partners mother and will go to her own mother if his mother cant cope (dont know why dad cant have him )
Maybe I should offer? although when we saw him Natasha gave his legs a slap for being on her mummys knee, so maybe not a good idea! I love my gorgeous little girl0
