Big hugsies to ella and bailey.

HELP! I was so worried last night, that he may have some sort of mental problem . Joseph is an angry little man. He can be lovely, he can have normal expected tantrums, but he also has an extremely short temper, hopefully he will grow out of this. But last night at about 4am he was crying as usual (need to sort out this problem, he cries, I go in, find his dummy, plug and sleep), but he already had a dummy and would not be consoled. He was having a tantrum. I tried leaving him, cuddling him, putting him down, standing him up, distracting with anything, singing, but everything was met with screams and kicking and hitting and headbutts and throwing objects. Eventually I just left him in the cot and sat beside him waiting for him to calm down. Even when he did he stayed awake and staring for ages. It must have taken an hour and I was seriously doubting the normality of the situation. Please someone tell me they've experienced this before...
We had this with Chris!! :D
It came completely out of the blue and he did it for maybe 5 nights during a 2 week period (can't be specific as everything is a blur these days!)
I found the only thing that kept him quiet was his disco ball (one like this)
I eventually was soo tired I fell asleep and have no idea how long he was awake for but on the nights I stayed awake it was 2 or 3 hours of being awake:confused: I still have no idea what was wrong..

Ps Ladybird I can't remember if baby was early or late but the moving date was within a week of her EDD - she is most definitely a nutter :p

I fed Oz to sleep for months - setting him in his cot awake was a disaster - he squealed for ages, and then all of a sudden he allowed himself to be put down awake - when HE was ready not when i forced it on him. Now sometimes he's sleeping and sometimes he's awake when i put him down.

    ;):o

How old was Oz when you started putting him down awake. My LO sounds exactly like Oz. At the moment i'm every hour and 20 mins with him.

Just to let you know that its not a blood clot but Pneumonia that she has got. Not sure how serious it is but her family said she will be in hospital for at least a week.

I keep thinking of that poor baby without its mum at 19 days old......

Hugs for ella to pass on to mum & baby! Hope she's out soon.

Violet had her first needles yesterday, one in each leg - I hate it! OH had to come with me to hold her so I could look away - Bad Mummy!! She had a little cry - that lasted about 10 seconds so obviously I was more upset than she was. :o

Then, we had the best nights sleep ever - is it related??

She fell asleep about 7 with me, woke about 10 so I fed her and took her up and into her basket, and she slept, with no fuss, til 2.30. Fed her then, and she went back down again til 6.30. She normally sleeps for four hours at nights, but this is the first time she's gone down awake and stayed there. :T

Is she being a good girl?, or did the needles knock her out a bit?

Oz went through the constant waking stage at about 6 months - drove us crazy, we tried every recomendation under the sun - soothing him and putting him down, letting him cry etc etc it lasted for about a month and then he just stopped it himself . Just after that we kept our same bedtime routine - bath feed sleep - but all of a sudden sometimes he wasnt feeding himself to sleep but was sleepy and content and happy and didnt mind being put down awake.

I think a big part of it was getting him used to the sleepytime routine - and then he knew what was happening and didnt feel abandoned when we put him down.

He's coming along great these days - he's still up some nights, but he has slept through 12 hours a couple of times, and other times he wakes at about 10pm and then sleeps through. Which is all great - and none of it forced by us.

Lwcus - does your little one sleep well during the day? becuase up until 6 months Oz never did, and then I changed his daytime routine (not a routine really) but i started a morning sleepytime routine and he started sleeping for a couple of hours at a time - and once he was doing this his nights became better. And recently he's been having an hour in the afternoon as well and this has coincided with even better nights - i'm a firm believer of "the more a baby sleeps the more a baby sleeps!".

i hate to say it but its probably needle related! the only time in the first 6 months that Oz only woke once was after his 12 week jabs (think thats when they get 3 jabs). So probably something similar. But you never know - it may have a lasting effect! she may have realised its nice to sleep all night!

Aww poor her and poor baby!!
My dad (53) had pneumonia at Christmas and he was in hosp for 3 weeks (his spread to the other lung within days of being admitted so slightly longer than a single pneumonia) took over 4 weeks of resting at home before he was remotely normal and he went from being borderline underweight to being most definitely underweight :( he looked like those pictures you see of prisoners of war all skin n bone:eek: he also got a DVT from being on bed rest for so long so is still on medication for that (not sure if DVTs are hereditary but his dad has had one too)

3onitsway: I wouldn't get too excited just in case :) Chris used to sleep a lot after his jabs too, just be thankful for the rest and that it doesn't affect her like some others with lots of crying

I'm not getting excited - but feel so much better after a half decent nights sleep :D. Especially as I was prepared for a bad night , with a temperature and crying - thats what I got with the older two's jabs!

But as nadnad said - she may have realised sleeping at night is good! Fingers crossed, we'll see what tonight brings!
