Lu T, you're spot on with your post about advertising, nutritionally, there's no need to move a child onto follow on milk... And toddler milks are just another way to make money... On the whole 'night time milks' thing... Have you looked at the list of ingredients? I don't know what half of them are, let alone how they are obtained... Chemically or organically etc... And they are designed to 'set' in the baby's tummy in order to keep them feeling fuller for longer... Not very healthy for their little guts IMO...

:rotfl: I think we've suitably confused poor keely ;)
at least we've covered to diff veiws and then she can pick which suits how she feels :D
I love the C&G cow! I've got 2 as well:money: I never got the polar bear that comes from another formula company tho :( I tried applying for it under diff names/address etc but none of them came!

I'm quite jealous of your 2 good sleepers tho! Chris wasn't a bad sleeper, pretty average really so I didn't suffer too much but I would have prefered sleeping bunnies like urs :)

Maybe the polar bear peeps know you're not buying into the brand! ;):D.

I'm hoping Jamie will be just as good as Poppy. When I say 'who is not in bed' (in the style of ITNG! :o) she giggles and runs over to me ready to go up! People are amazed but she obviously has the love of sleep gene from her Daddy!.

Random but I'm sure I've read/heard/seen that there is theory/fact that children whos mothers drink alcohol during pregnacy are more likely to like the taste of alcohol.
I am almost completely tee-total due to allergies so why does Chris like beer and wine
He likes to taste everything he sees others eating/drinking and we thought that we would just let him have a small bite/sip thinking he would find whatever it was gross and stop pestering us with "want some, I have it... etc etc) but he actually tries to steal OH's beer and once got his hands on a bottle and took a massive swig  he didn't spill a single drop (something he doesn't managed with a glass of water!) and today he asked for a sip of mum's red wineand he then proclaimed "I like wine!" (hoping he doesn't declare that to the HV when we see her!!)
Anyone else experianced anything like this?
I find it rather worrying :undecided

krystal or anyone! while your still here i have a few questions(can here you sigh lol!)
    1. if im to express what age on adverage would you say is best to start adding the odd bottle?

    2. does your milk change in anyway as i would be worried about storing it and then t not being enough to fill her when used(am confusing myself know what i mean but find it hard to put down?)

this is as my sister is due on sunday and if her ex doesnt turn up i have offered to go with her, would need to start a few bottles as back up if needed but not wanting her to stop BF. also dont want to confuse her or have latching probs all confusing???
What's for you won't go past you

Yes Sami, Aimee learnt to crawl by following a can of beer... And I never drank through my pregnancy with her!

I can remember 'zipping' my Dad's beer when we were kids... Never really liked the taste (Still don't, he drinks Bitter...) But we always used to ask anyway...

1)If she's feeding succesfully and you have a good supply then 4/5 weeks is a good age to add occasional bottles in...

2)Yes your milk does change as they get older but not significantly enough, any you expressed and froze now would still be perfectly good to use for her in a couple of weeks time...

As far as expressing and storing milk, the best advice is BFNExpressing&Storing.pdf
    Fresh breast milk
    Room 6 hours
    Fridge: 5 to 10oC 3 days
    Fridge: 0 to 4oC 8 days
(If temperature rises above 4oC after 3 days, use within 6 hours or throw away)
Freezer: -18oC or lower 6 months
    Previously frozen breast milk
    Defrosted in fridge 12 hours
    Defrosted outside fridge Use immediately

It is a lot more versatile than formula which needs to be thrown away after an hour... It actually has antibacterial properties that stop it going off!

  • Aww, Caz, hope you sister is OK? Does she want her ex to be there?

Sami, we were always allowed to try any alcohol that was being drunk in the home at xmas and parties, etc, as my Dad never wanted it to be taboo. Mum would even buy us a Babycham each for xmas eve and I hated it, but never let on! :o. It meant that alcohol was no biggy when we were growing up and we were never the kids getting blotto in the park!
