Sami and Krystal - what kind of shows do you watch!! :rotfl:

Speaking of cervixes :p - my husband has just rolled home, drunk and hungry. After a hard day at work he met up with some of the guys (boring IT people these are) and they ended up in a random pub, where hubby was pleasantly suprised they had dancing, stripping, naked girls :eek:. The other guys have to lie to their wives, he told me, but I can tell you where we went because you're soooo coooool, he said. Now I have a lovely mental image of hard working hubby, as I put on yet another load of soiled baby clothing in the washing machine... Cool indeed.

    Pass me the babycham.

:rotfl: How are you going to handle this one?! Not sure my DH would be so brave with me! :D :rotfl: .

Hi ya, the goodnight seemed to help settle Elliot last night...although he did a trick of rolling over and getting stuck so cried out for help! rolled him back over and he went back to sleep lol.

Wish i hadnt failed at breastfeeding, but cant keep going over it in my head-it'll just end up depressing me.

    keely.

Aw, bless him! Glad he settled well for you. Poppy was up again at 6:30!. I even put her to bed 1/2 hour later at 7pm but its obviously made no difference whatsoever .

Don't beat yourself up about not BFing. Lots of people have lots of opinions but you just do whats right for you.

  • Poor you and Charlotte, Becles! Hope you both feel better soon.

did he call to say he'd be late home?
I wouldn't give a wotsit about him seeing naked girls but coming home drunk past midnight, I'd be fuming at!!! although *she says smugly* I doubt my hubby would ever do that anyway, he's very responsible and doesn't get drunk on a school night ;) or for that matter ever manage to stay awake past 10pm on one either :rotfl:

Keely - try not to think of it as failing (although I know how hard that is to actually do! it took me until Chris was about 12mths before I'd 'got over it':o) You did what was right at the time. I was a complete mess after having Chris I spent most of the time crying inconsolably, Chris would scream endlessly and my boobs were in agony - those things do not make a good mummy or a happy baby and although Chris suffers with allergies and eczema just like me he has been ill much less than some of his BFed friends too so he's obviously thriving pretty well :D
I'm hoping to BF bump and if it goes well I'll be sneaking some spare drops into Chris's breakfast in the hope he'll get some benefits that he missed out on but if it doesn't work out then that will be that.
I'm sure once they're grown up no-one will ever say you were obviously not Bfed

Beccles - get well soon you and Charlotte :)

SB - Chris was in bed at 7pm last night and slept til 8am :p :rotfl:
Shall I tell you why?... lots of fresh air and sunshine and a nice splashy bath!
I always thought people who went on about fresh air were just being interfearing old wotsits but it really does make Chris sleep better and is much easier while we're at mums coz she has a nice big garden to run around! (my poor doggies aren't too amused that Chris is still here tho!)

The milk talk is ompletely over my head as I'm still breastfeeding - even though Tom's 14 months and I said I would definitely give up at 12 months. He's still a really keen feeder though. My Mam thinks I should just refuse him and is always making remarks about how he's "too old for that now" but the odd time I've said no he's gone beserk. I'm sort of hoping he'll just lose interest but people keep saying "Ooh, he'll still be feeding when he goes to school". Anyone had experience with feeding older babies? Did they self-wean or do you have to do it?
The world health organisation actually recommends feeding into the 2nd year so you're still well within guidelines ;)

On a personal note, I fed my daughter until she was approximately 33 months old... I found as she got bigger she fed less and less, going a couple of days between feeds (I also know people who have reached this point and refused any more feeds once it's been a couple of days since the last one and it's worked fine for them) until she just couldn't get milk out of me... It was a couple of months before her 3rd birthday and she accepted that the milk had all gone with no problem at all... I never put any time frame on myself for feeding though, I always thought I would feed as long as she wanted to... And I will do the same for the next one... And repeat the following mantra... 'If it's not a problem for me... Then it is not a problem!'

You didn't fail at breastfeeding, the people who should of been supporting you failed you...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Morning all. Any tips on cradle cap? I know it is just cosmetic and not bothering her, so should I just leave it till it goes away or is there anything I should be doing?

Caz, it might be worth trying with the bottle before you need to. We're trying to get Izzy to take one. Last night she actually drank some (about 1floz) from the bottle for the first time before spitting it out and refusing any more. I think we will try a few more times, then see how we get on with a cup instead. It is not essential, but if she will bottle feed it would be nice to leave Granny and Grandad in charge while we go to the pictures or something!

Oh, and if you are using a pump, definiteky try while feeding. It takes far less time, and it is time you can't do much else with anyway!

Ooh busy in here since yesterday!

Keely dont feel bad about not bf - its sometimes impossible for mother/baby and formula is made for that reason.

Alcohol - we were also allowed alcohol when we were little - sips of beer here and there, sparkling wine at special occasions, made our own snowballs every christmas yum yum, and none of us were irresponsible teenage drinkers - don't get me wrong I was at the pub from 16 with my mates, but never once was i drunk drunk iyswim. I think an outright ban makes kids go mad when they get the chance.

Sami - I thought everyone got smears from 18?! At least I did - and so did all my friends, when we went to university the uni clinic called us.

Sleeping - am jealous of all you mums with the good sleepers, Oz has NEVER slept through the night and he usually gets up for the day at 6am or 6.30 if we're lucky.

Milk - I agree all the different follow on milks/good night milks are probably gimmicky but you know what - whatever works! I breast feed Oz but will admit to trying EVERY milk under the sun to see if he'll take some, but to no avail, he refuses to take more than a few sips of everything other than me.

i did fail, i admit after all the pain/bleeding etc i began to hate it, i didnt want him anywhere near my boobs :( i feel guilty because i shouldnt have felt that way, it didnt help that my husband shouted at me the night i broke down because i felt i couldnt go on... i rang up the hospital for help but no one cares at 11pm on a saturday night. if it wasnt for my sister i think id have honestly run off and not come back i felt so crap.

Luckily i pulled myself together, got him a bottle and tried to move on. But no one really tried helping me with the feeding, i got a well if you dont want to do it, dont. end of. great help they were.

but anyway, having a crap start to the day with elliot spending the past half hour screaming/crying till he cried himself to sleep, so im probably feeling more sory for myself then i should be. so i appologise for the moaning on and on this morning.

again-i thank my sister for ringing me up and making me go meet her in a bit for some fresh air, because she knows ill end up feeling sorry for myself all day! :o once hes had his nap, il get him ready to go out.

Cradle cap rub olive oil onto it before bed and then give her a bath in the morning, rub it a bit with the flannel gently :D
I found it went mostly of its own accord tho, I didn't like to rub it off as hard as my HV suggested (she said give it a scrub ) I was worried Chris would end up with a sore head!

Nadnad England is the only part of the UK that doesn't offer smears before 25yo unless you have symptoms of cancer
There is a big 'who-ha' at the momnt due to "The Jade Effect" lots of girls/women are asking for them and not being given them!
Its shocking IMHO!! The gov/nice/whomever decides these things claims that to routinely perform smears on under 25's "does more harm than good" although no evidence as to this harm they claim has ever been shown!

    Keely - YOU DIDN'T FAIL!! :p:D
Enjoy the peace while Elliot sleeps and then enjoy the fresh air and time with your sister! (aren't sisters fab!)
