I gave Joseph a bath yestarday just because I wanted to wash his hands and face after a picnic in the park - the bath was deemed easier
He got his first cough today - how topical:wall:0 -
All these poorly babies! Getting better vibes to them all from here!
We're doing day number one of trying to change the routine slightly here.Normally Izzy stays up until we go to bed, but I'm trying to keep her awake for longer in the day, then I'm going to see if I can put her down about 7ish & have a dream feed before I go to bed.
I've put her down for a nap this afternoon, but not stayed in bed with her (I'm going to be nackered, I might be tempted to still go to bed at the same time as her at 7pm!) like I normally would, so I can wake her up after an hour, rather than us both waking up after 3. (If I need afternoon nap tomorrow we might have to set the alarm to wake us up!)
Anyone else got any tips on changing routines? At some point we will have to get her into a routine where we can put her down awake to settle herself, rather than her falling alseep on the breast too, but I think I will get the bedtime at 7ish thing under our belt first, and then worry about settling by herself later on. One battle at a time and all that!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Ladybird:
I can't really remember now but I will warn you to expect it to go well on day1 and 2 and then day3 will be a nightmare!! no matter what it is I change it always goes that way with Chris day 4 is a bit of a struggle but usually ok and then its almost plain sailing from there.
I have to be really strict for the first week or 2, if i let it slip in that time I have to start from the beginning again :rolleyes:0 -
ladybird,
you may find you don't need to keep her awake that much during the day to sleep longer at night - very often the more sleep they have in the day, they more they sleep at night - def the case with my LO. When he was about 4 or 5 weeks we just put him down at 7pm and it worked - sometimes i think its easy to overthink these things.
As she's so young i'm sure she doesnt have a routine as such and so you're not breaking an old routine and starting anew but rather starting something completely different and this will probably be easier than you imagine!
I obsessed for a while about putting him down awake, believing that (as many experts would have you believe) that its the be all and end all and that falling asleep on the boob is terrible, but now i think its a comfort for baby that they need, and when they are ready to be put down awake they will let you know! Sometimes Oz falls asleep whilst feeding, other times he feeds and then has a lovely little chat with me about "baba and dadda and oooh" and then i put him down awake and he goes to sleep by himself, he started that by himself and no amount of me trying it in the early days worked, it just happened naturally so try not to stress about it.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

She ended up sleeping half the afternoon in the end - haven't been able to keep her awake. Ended up putting her into a sleep suit, waiting till she was hungry again and have just put her down again. No idea if she will stay there, but we will see!
