My mam and dad are divorced and the kids just call my mam's partner Kev. When DS was small he once saw someon being picked up from nursery by their grandparents and remarked "Oh, he's been picked up by his Grandma and his Kev".

Charlotte and me are both full of snot here, so we're stopping in today.

We bought some sofa's that were delivered at the end of November, but within a couple of months, the seat cushions had just shredded and had holes in. It's just been used for sitting on and not abused. Tesco sent an independant technician out who said they were made with split leather which isn't hard wearing enough for seats and usually just used on the backs where it's not going to get any wear. He said they were not fit for purpose, so Tesco collected them yesterday. I have ordered more from another store, but they haven't arrived yet.

So we're sitting in deckchairs watching Balamory now :rotfl:

  • That sounds like you've got a few days of pretending to be on the beach ahead of you Becles!

While we're on nicknames, Izzy has graduated to being Izzy Whizzy Custard this week. Not sure where that came from. DH will laugh at me when he gets back later (he has been away all week). I wonder what changes he will notice in her. She is definitely loads more smiley than she was on Monday but I'm sure there are other things too :)

  • Ds gets his spectacles this weekend...

I know he needs them, but I still feel a bit guilty about the whole thing.

God help us trying to keep them on him...I have copious amounts of stickers at the ready.

Is there a glasses wearing character in a book, TV prog etc., that he likes and can pretend to be?

Joshua failed an eye test at school and was referred to the optician. In case he needed glasses, I kept saying it would be good to get some Harry Potter style ones and he ended up really keen on the idea. He was a bit disappointed when the optician said there was nothing wrong with his eyes and he didn't need glasses :D

  • He turned 2 at Christmas.

I've sewn glasses onto a toy he is already fond of. I've also bought books that had characters who needed glasses which I've been reading to him for weeks. I sent them into nursery with him this week and the staff there have read them with his entire toddler room...

DH wears glasses, so he is familiar with people wearing them.

I work in an opticians. You are probably aware of these facts already but thought I'd check just in case. You shouldn't have to pay for the glasses. Even if they are lost/broken you will not have to pay for repair/replacement. Dont feel embarressed if they break, children will break their glasses (especially little boys!!) Is he under the hospital? I imagine so as he's so young, you could ask for 2 pairs-its the hospital you need to ask. They are not always willing to prescribe 2 pairs (it depends on the prescription and on the policy in your area)
Hope he enjoys wearing them xx

Depending on the effect they have on his eyesight, he may love them! :rotfl:

DS2 got some when he was 16, optician said he could have them earlier but he didn't want to be bothered, however he HAD to have them for driving. Now he's got them, he wears them nearly all the time, of course he won't admit he should have got them when he was younger.
