Hello and welcome to all newbies - Mumof2, Fritha and keeleykat  . Hope I didn't miss anyone!

I agree with everything else that's been suggested. Also, I used to take Imogen out for a walk every day between 12 and 2pm when the sunlight is at its strongest (this was in the depths of winter!) Apparently the daylight helps set their body clocks. If we did nothing else all day we did that - except when the snow was sideways, then we stayed in.

I used to take her into the bathroom when I had a shower. Just put her on the floor in her moses basket so I could talk to her. If she was sleeping I would leave her where she was. TBH though, a shower was way down at the bottom of the list. Often I had one when OH was home from work.

Can anyone advise about a booster seat to help Imogen sit at the table please? She's fine in her highchair but nearly big enough to sit at the table with us and we'd like to get her to sit there with us. We have one of these http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/detailfash.php?type=FASH&code=A4923&branch=IF&category=HBS82 but she's too big for it really and has the potential to pull the chair over if she leans over in it. They all look quite expensive and like they would trap her legs under the table top without her being able to sit close enough to the table.

Another one for you parents with older kids. Have you had a put-up bed for when LO is too big for a travel cot, but you don't want to put them into a proper bed. I've seen this one http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B0011IBX7Y/sr=1-1/qid=1223141011/ref=sr_1_1/026-8239597-0198042?ie=UTF8&mcb=core in the Mothercare catalogue and it seems okay, but I'm not sure how long she'd use it for. She sleeps in a bed at home - a little one transformed from her cot bed - so I'm not confident she'd stay in a big bed all night without falling out (she also has a bedguard on). Plus, there's not room for a single and a double in the spare room at my mum's (where it's for). Help!

Thought I'd amuse you with some of her new phrases (well, they amuse me!). These include, "my do it..." which has been "my do it eating", "my do it reading" and, scarily, "my do it driving"!

The other new one this morning is "right now!" as in, "Mummy, get down, right now!" when wanting to get down from her high chair.

Right, off to sort her some supper and then get her in the bath. OH's working tomorrow and I've got an interview to prepare for, so hopefully she'll be in a co-operative mood tomorrow

They sometimes have those ready beds in Netto not sure how much but I'd think they'd be at least a tenner less if you look at the Thomas one on argos as it has the most reviews they're seem quite good
Edit: sorry can't get a link but its the: Thomas the Tank Engine My First Ready Bed.348/6487

Hello Everyone and Thankyou all for the warm welcome. As Isaid before I'am Rebecca and I'am 21 and have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I have just started college doing a english course so my DD2 goes to Nursery on a tuesday morning.

To whoever said about there baby not sleeping through.. I hope he/she starts to sleep through soon, My DS was one when he first slept through.

My DS has the scooby doo ready bed which I got in Argos last year and I have just got the Princess ready bed for my DD..as they spend usually 3 nights a month sleeping out, so mummy can hit the town or have a break.. Iam so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family!!

Forgot to say Iam a single mum, so if there are any single mums out there that fancy a chat on here or msn/yahoo then just pm me and il be happy to chat. I do however have a very good male friend who takes me and children out places and visits everyday to see me and the children. I take my hat off to men who like my special friend gets on great with other peoples kids and takes them on as there own (mine doesnt do this Yet tho) especially when they have no kids of there own.

Think I have waffled on a bit about random pointless things me thinks..once again. So i will leave it here now. I will come back later and chat to you all. A lady I met off the DFW board is coming over for coffee.

    See You all soon

Had our first visit to A&E this week... DS cracked his head open on a corner of a tv unit. The staff were very good with him, but I was a bit taken aback at being asked if he'd a social worker or a health visitor.
Anyway, his forehead is now glued and steristrips applied. We were told not to let it get wet for 5 days.

What happens next does anyone know? Do I have to take the strips/glue off?

NOT GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE but from personal experience when I split my head!! The strips should just fall off and the glue stays put. I think the glue must just dissolve come time as my skin just grew back over it. Like Becles says it turns into a scab. I had no problems
Hope your wee fella is ok

Sorry to hear about his accident. James is accident prone and split his head open a few times when he was younger. From what I remember, the glue is just like a scab and it drops off when the skin has healed underneath.

He's still accident prone, and is currently black and blue from flying over the handlebars of his bike the other day

Lu T - we've got one of these that Charlotte uses. My boys used it too:
    http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B001723ERQ/sr=1-3/qid=1223155729/ref=sr_1_3/203-1529731-9329547?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42862041&mcb=core
I've never had a high chair, and they've all used that from since they were able to sit up unaided. You can use it with or without the tray, and the seat has two positions so you can lower it as she gets bigger.

When mine have slept away from home when they were little, they just had cheapo blow up airbeds and a sleeping bag. The ready beds do look fun though.

Hello to all the newbies. Hope you enjoy the thread :)
Here I go again on my own....
