For now just juggle the baby between you, one of you hold him while the other showers etc - it's not the end of the world if you have a few ready meals or takeaways each week, abandon the idea of complicated recipes for a while! Rally round and ask friends/family to do a bit of shopping for you, and when you DO cook, cook double and freeze half.
When your DH is back at work, take elliot into the bathroom with you, and put him in a bouncy chair while you shower... it's okay if it's not until 11am/1pm/3pm!!!0 -
Keelykat I agree with the rest keep it dark and quiet at nights. I used a night light by my bed. then once she was in her own room transfered it to there.
As for finding time to do stuff don't worry you will soon settle into a routine, even more so once daddy is back to work. Make sure and try and find some you time even if it is just while LO is sleeping. If your a worrier take a baby monitor into the bathroom with you (just don't electrocute yourself!!!) relax in a bath/jump in a shower. If the housework ain't done don't worry it's not a life or death situation!!
Just enjoy him while he is still young. You soon won't have any peace, you'll have a little lump crawling round at your feet before you know it!!:rotfl: :rotfl:Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -
Any advise on how to get a newborn into a routine so he doesnt sleep all day then be wide awake all night.....i know its early days but how can i get him to sleep bit better at night.
Keely, I think I might love you! We're having exactly the same problem, we've been told that the daylight will help them to set their body clock naturally so to make sure she (or in your case he) gets plenty of that. We're still sometimes keeping her downstairs at night just so we get some sleep (she absolutely will not settle in the dark and quiet and I was starting to lose the plot) but we're definitely making it different to day. We are starting to notice subtle changes but from what we've been told it just takes time.
If it helps I think I'm losing the plot as well!
Oh sorry, hello, another graduate from the pregnancy thread, Celia was born on September 25th although frankly we're considering renaming her thunderpants, blimey the girl can trump!Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
When Alice was first born I used to have a bath at the beginning of the first nap of the day. I also had a jobs list of the basics to do during each nap. The last thing was have a nap myself and I had a rule that I would always stop half an hour before getting Alice up even if I hadn't done the other things to make sure I got the sleep.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
