Hello new people :hello:, it's always nice to have more opinions on here.

Happy Birthday SB. Tell us all about the party when you've recovered. I'm trying to organise my family for a get together for Joseph in the next fortnight, but it's proving impossible. Just like his mummy  he might have to start with a few parties :D.

I've been amusing myself with Xmas prezzie shopping this weekend :xmassmile, decided to have a bit of fun with hampers like the people on the special occasions board, which means lots and lots of shopping instead of just a few bits. Yey!

Js_Other_Half, I hope your ds is feeling better. I'm worried as hubby was in and out of a&e almost every week, as MIL reminisces, so am hoping Joseph will not turn out that way. Although we did see a lot of blood when the poor monkey fell over on his face last week and ripped/punctured his.... what was that word??...frenum? frenulum? That bit of ligamenty skin above your top teeth. Eek, just checked wikipedia:
These can easily be torn by violent blows to the face or mouth, thus a torn frenulum is sometimes a warning sign of physical abuse.
 Good grief! Bad mother alert!

Now hands up who remembers the overdue club last year. Almost everyone due around this time had to wait and wait and wait.... Oh, those were the days eh?
    :wall:
  • Oh Agutka I hate remembering those days, and the funny thing is my neighbour is pregnant, and due on the 15th - well I was due on the 12th! So whenever I see her I am checking her bump is still there, I get all excited whenever the car is gone, I am probably more impatient than her! :D

Can you believe how weird she is, she wants to go overdue because she is not ready yet! :p She'd have laughed at us lot! :rotfl:

We are just having and tea and cake party for Elliot, we're getting him a swing from us, and going to a (slight shudder) soft play centre on the day. But I think first birthdays are more about the parents - congratulations, you survived the first year!

Lol, I wanted to go overdue as I wasn't ready and Tom turned up two weeks early in a majorly dramatic fashion. With DS I wanted him to come ASAP (1st baby!) and he was eight days late - aren't babies contrary?

Lol at Lu T's little one with "my do it". I remember that with DD. She wanted to do everything. At 9 year old she still thinks she can do anything eg disappearing upstairs with Tom to give him a bath! She still has to be watched all the time as she thinks she's invincible.

Thanks guys :D The steri-strips came off in the cot overnight apparently - I can't find them so I'm hoping they'll be stuck to one of his toys.

He was very good about the whole thing once he'd calmed down - it helps that I don't panic easily and have no issues with blood. There were two nurses to hold him down to glue it - but they didn't need two of them - I just gave him his dummy ( a real treat when he's not in bed) held his chin and sang something random.

:bdaycake: For everyone with birthdays. :kisses3: :grouphug: For all the walking wounded.

We haven't had a trip to casualty yet but I have had to call an ambulance once and it was the scariest thing ever. Got the neighbours talking when it arrived with its lights flashing that's for sure! Luckily they were happy to leave her with us unless I insist they cart her off. I was a bit embarrassed (look away now if squeamish) as she'd taken a dive off her change mat and landed head first on the open drawer I was getting her socks from. I was literally stood next to her as it happened and she leaned over to look at what I was doing. Her head had a massive dent in it (which you can still see when she's upset), but no blood thank goodness. By the time the ambulance arrived she was waving at them and putting her arms up to get a cuddle from the technician! Apparently lots of kids think they're Teletubbies cos of the green overalls :rotfl:

Thanks for all the info on ready beds and booster seats. Think a ready bed is def the right way to go.

Imogen's been very miserable today and exceptionally clingy. She also can't take her fist out of her mouth so I wonder if she's getting some back teeth. Even Ashton and Parsons powders don't seem to be working and that's v unusual.

Think I've finally finished the first bit of prep for my interview a week tomorrow  just have to get the presentation in the morning and crack that!

are the Ashton and Parsons powders the same as Teetha - with chamomilia in it? cos I use teetha - you can get it from tesco and most chemists and it has worked every time - touch wood. I thought we'd get some respite from the teething for a little while seeing as he got 2 together but his cheeks are really red again and he's drooling something chronic. poor little man.
